Look, every 10 year old in off topic (and believe me, there are a lot of them) wants to make a topic with a bajillion posts in it. It's not as simple as saying "post a lot in the topic I made" heh.
The prizes aren't a bad idea, but in the end, a lot of posts aren't the focus of large topics, they're a natural byproduct of the entertainment found inside.
So to get what you want (a lot of posts) don't make a topic about that. Think about what others find entertaining and offer a place for that to happen. In other words don't ask them to come to you, you go to them. Think about what they want. That's the way to get what you want.
For example one thing people find entertaining is drama. So one of the easier ways to generate replies is to post something painfully stupid or horrible... usually called trolling.
