We are playing a role all the time: we switch identities all the time. We wear different masks all the time, but we never seem to ask ourselves: who's behind the mask?
And if we ask that question now, what is the answer? Who is behind the masks? Is there a mascote wearing masks, or is there just another mask, hiding behing tones after masks? We speculate that there is someone real behind the mask and not looking, we're content with that speculation.
Yet if we could look we'd be quite surprised: there are only masks on top of masks--nothing else.
