This nonsense has assisted in the downfall of our First Minister.😢🏴
Can you explain what exactly you mean by that?
#3: J.K. Rowling has transphobic views. No thanks.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicola_Sturgeon - see the section on "Transgender rights"
Although as far as I can tell, she's still the First Minister for Scotland so I'm not sure what CP means by "downfall". From his tone, presumably he sees Sturgeon as an advocate of transgender rights and therefore is unfit to be First Minister even though she still holds that office.

Ah, thank you for explaining! And a huge thanks for explaining the tone, I usually have trouble distinguishing tone over text.
The First Minister resigned yesterday.🏴
Do you view that as a good thing or a bad thing? Interesting paragraph in https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-02-16/nicola-sturgeon-resignation-scotland-unanswered-questions/101981508
The recent case of transgender prisoners within Scottish jails led to a very public debate, and the reversal of the Scottish Prison Service's policy that allowed trans prisoners to be accommodated based on their self-declared gender. As the issue dominated headlines, polling showed declining support for Sturgeon and the SNP.
Hard to tell what aspect of the debate was turning people off - the lack of support for transgender rights? The giving of support for transgender rights? The inability to make the any headway on the issue? Maybe something of all of that?
This post would probably would’ve been better in a private club, rather than the public forums lol.
Starting to realize this now, lol. Just thought maybe I could get some ideas for what to include in my writing.

Hello there Chess.com Off Topic forum members! I'd like to hear your thoughts or questions on a subject for something I'm writing. I'm currently writing a blog post about gender identity, and things related to it, such as what being transgender actually means.
However, I want to make sure I can answer as many questions that you all may have as possible. That's why I'm making this post! I'd like you all to leave your questions or thoughts on this. I'll try to answer as many as I can here.
So, ask away! As a transgender person myself, I feel like I'm qualified to answer most questions you all have. All I ask though, is that you remain respectful when discussing here, or you'll get blocked. I don't mind if you have different views than me, but don't be rude about it please.
Anyway, thank you in advance! Your questions will help a lot. :]

Why is it "transphobic" to reject someone solely because they're Trans
I'm not the best at explaining, but let me see if I can come up with some sort of example.
Let's say there's a man named Bob, and he doesn't have a mustache. There's a group of people who DO have mustaches. Bob wants to join the group. The group rejects him because he doesn't have a mustache. Bob isn't accepted to a job because he doesn't have a mustache. He is being excluded because he doesn't have a mustache.
Now, let's switch it up and say Bob is transgender, and the other people are not. Bob gets rejected because he is transgender. So, people who reject others because they are transgender is referred to as transphobic. As in, they dislike transgender people.
Make sense? If not, I'll see if I can explain it differently.

no bc men have more will power than women so it would kinda be cheating no matter what you identify as. even if ur trans your chromosomes and genes will stay the same.

No ftm should compete against men and mtf should compete against men because on average men are generally faster stronger taller

This is a gray area, one that I haven't thought about much. In my personal opinion, I think FtM people should be allowed to participate in men's sports, but MtF should stay in men's sports. Biologically, the MtF individuals would have an advantage against women. That's how I see it, anyway.
Don't take my opinion as the correct opinion, it varies from person to person.
