Greater men than me, both morally and intellectually have struggled to answer that question throughout the centuries. It depends on the individual I think, he rewards those who are righteous and follow his laws, but the reason why people do so isn't for the material reward but rather because it is a privilege and sacred duty to perform the mitzvot.
Even if the Atheistic view on the afterlife were correct but its view on God isn't I would die happy knowing I served God as best I can, even if my consciousness would forever cease.
