Ways to avoid cheaters?

#inb4theneverlock One way to avoid cheaters is to abort the game if you see a high winning streak player with a really recently created account (18 days old and 20+ wins in a row). Then either abort the game, or play the Cow opening or Hippo defense for white and black respectively. (GothamChess once played the Hippo Defense against a cheater and won, due to stalling out the clock and letting the cheater take 3+ seconds on each move and not realizing the strategy of Levy Rozman because they were simply looking at the engine the entire time). That's helpful advice ![]()
Cheating at 600 elo is very unlikely. Lower rated players can still find strong moves occasionally, they just cannot do it consistently which is why they are rated low. Your 1200 OTB rating also does not always translate directly to online ratings since the formats and time controls are very different. If you genuinely suspect cheating on a specific game just report it and let the platform handle it, but most of the time it is simply one good move that caught you off guard.
