In general chess discussion?
weightlifting

i was pretty upset when our gyms closed in America. i had a grand vision of adding like 50 lb to my bench. i only added 5lb. that's horrible progress. it was because i lost a lot on my bench in the first half because i could not work out, and i spend the second half trying to gain it back. a huge waste

i benched 215. not sure about deadlift and squat. My gym does not have a freeweight barbell. only smith machine

And going forward if you have a non chess related topic just scroll down to off topic and post it in there

are you a power lifter by chance? this is a power lifters question

weightlifting is a hobby/project of mine. so i thought id make a thread about it and see if any of you guys have any interest in it. maybe you can share effective programs, brag about what you can lift or used to lift, nutrition advice, any tips or warnings etc?
You should have5 lifts (multi joint lifts) 5 sets each. 8-10 reps each set. Eat 30% protein 35% carbs (mostly complex) no sugar.
When I got out of service 40 years ago I weighed 145 lbs. today at 66 I weigh 195 and I'm not fat.

Only 5? I bench press(when im done benching i do flies and tricep pushdowns), reverse curls, wrist curls, abs stuff(it varies), pulldowns, rows, shrugs, squat and leg press, a machine for lower back, side lateral raises for shoulders, use a rear dealt machine, and have an exercise for rotator cuff. how do you get off with only 5 lifts?
