what are we?

Hello guys . In this forum I'll be exploring what it is that we are . What consciousness is about . What this whole soul and self idea is about . What love is about . I'd like to extend a warm invitation to everyone and anyone to feel free to participate here with their own views about what they are, what their lives are about , how they see people and how they see how we make sense of the world around us .

There may be some people that have contributed on other threads I've opened that feel a bit frustrated that I jump around on threads talking about the same issue . Well I give my word I'll do my posting here as long as I'm allowed and the site lag isn't too much . If I need a break then upon returning I'll come back here .

So to everyone and anyone say what you want when you want . I don't try to upset anyone and I value everyone equally . We all matter. So feel free to relax and enjoy yourself and express yourself and wonder with me .

I think about a bee . A bee we would all agree is a part of nature . Doing it's thing . Playing it's part in helping it's community .

A bee as far as I'm aware never says screw this , I'm going to hang out at the beach .

It's interesting that people do all sorts of random shit .

I really don't very often swear . I'm not sure why I've gone all Gangster .

Troy you talked in my last thread about control being an illusion . I have an idea about what you mean .

It's true that although I'm mindful at times we naturally hate and get angry . I believe though that we can avoid intentionally hurting people through just relaxing and being our natural selves .

I find it's the worrying , the agitation , that causes us to lose touch with who we are .

Of course people of a religious persuasion are free to comment here but I'm generally honest about my views and I'm going to be truthful and say that for me anyway God is no longer relevant .

I've come to accept that the world as we know it came through natural processes . That a natural force such a gravity is responsible for the existence of matter.

I'm not interested in debating the existence / non existence of God . I'm certain and settled in my own mind and self that everything has a natural explanation .

Guys I'd say relax and be yourself but I'd respectfully and politely ask you that if you would like to share the words of someone else , if it's larger than a general post , please submit a link .

I find, and believe me I've been guilty of it , that copy and pasting large pieces of text makes the conversation tricky to follow . Better we know each other .

So I'll be posting here what I notice . About my thoughts and what we are .

I think its really simple; we get born through accident after accident of sperm meets egg..we live here for a few years, then we die and its someone else's turn. I dont believe we exist in an afterlife, nor would i want to. I think all living things are precious because this is their one go at it as well. I think the idea of an afterlife is comforting for some, but just a human invention.

Ps. I do think we have free will to some extent.

I get that about coincidences being responsible for our existence .

Certainly the world in my view is here accidentally . I guess our parents didn't just bump into each other . Well yes and no .

What I'm thinking though is the behaviour we have , the thoughts and feelings , is that all accidental too ? There certainly appears to be order at times .

Suddenly it ain't so simple . At the very least the free will idea exists as a delusion . At most there's more to us than cells and chemicals .

Anyway welcome all and everyone and thank you for joining me beautiful Fh !

I think if we are capable of being counter intuitive, then we have free will.

Perhaps or it may just be that we have a complex understanding . It's true that we sometimes do only what we want rather than what's in the best interests of the group . I'm not sure though that equates to free will . Maybe a bee has never clicked that actually it doesn't have to service the queen . That she can go to heck and it can go and watch some football . Sometime I wonder if a dog has an Einstein equivalent . Maybe a dolphin may at some point think what's all this about ?

What is a soul ? Can a non religious person believe in a soul ?

I think if you subscribe to free will then you do in a way .

My own feeling is free will is a delusion however I do believe that truth exists .

For example one and one is two and in knowing that the universe , nature if you like , takes account of that fact .

I'm not sure where beauty fits in though . Or love .

Time to start my day . Another day of watching who I am and who everyone else is too .

I'm thinking about how when you're in the movies you don't want to be distracted . You want to be lost in the movie . You want to be the movie . Where does the self go ?
