In this thread I'll be talking about the solution to the problem what are we?
tomtrytostay
Hey kaynight . Let me ask you something . Are you happy ? Are you even capable of giving me an answer ?
tomtrytostay
Anyway I've been interested in this subject for a long time and I still am . Through this site, and I suppose other means before it, I've explored this subject .

I've read scientific theories , studied religion and philosophy , even looked within to my own consciousness .

I'd like to share the conclusions that I have came to .

Well the first thing is that I've understood that there is a natural explanation for everything . It's a trait of human beings that when we lack information in regard to the natural explanation for something we adopt supernatural beliefs . It's like we can't cope with just not knowing .

So early man looked at the rain and thought of it's not raining as much lately and thought what's up with that ? It's not like today where we have a fantastic understanding of weather patterns and he just didn't know what the heck was going on . Then came the supernatural idea of a God that chose how the weather would be .

The more we come to learn of the true natural explanation for things the more these supernatural ideas we've adopted fall by the way side . People like hawking will say even the creation of the universe can be naturally explained and I'm sure that's true . I've read enough about evolution to be certain in my own mind at least that everything but everything has an entirely natural explanation .

Perhaps one of the reasons people struggle to accept this is the survival instinct. To accept that there is no God is to accept that we die . Also to accept all there is is nature itself is to relinquish our idea of self which is similar to dying in a way . So that's the first part . Everything in the universe , including all human thought feeling and behaviour is natural . It's all natural .

Tom, at risk of setting of SA, how do you explain so called religious experiences?

tomtrytostay
Okay Fh. Someone like Paul McKenna could answer that very well . The mind can be very creative at times . Have you ever been absolutely convinced you'd seen someone and then you've gotten closer and realised your mind had played a trick on you ?

The mind superimposed the image of who you had expected to see on top of the actual image .

Or to be more accurate your brain created an image and you mistakenly took that as being a sight you perceived .

So these religious experiences are similar things Fh .

Now for the second part of the solution to what we are .
tomtrytostay
I perhaps should explain first that the science and the education , the conversation brought me my first insight . That everything is natural not divine .

This next part just came through observing . Observing my thoughts and feelings . I have something to say about that though .
tomtrytostay
All education and literature can bring us in terms of what we are is the knowledge of what we are not .

So I learned that supernatural ideas happen because we don't accept not knowing the answer .

I learned that the reality is what we are is not a supernatural thing .

To absolutely know what you are though is not something anyone can tell you .

To know what you are you have to experience it . Otherwise it's just a belief .

So this is what I've experienced coming next .

I'd like to talk about the journey a bit . I watched my brain working my mind for over a decade . Got a really great sense of how the mind worked . Eventually I reached a point of such peace . And in that peace I saw love . I experienced love . I saw that what I am is love . What we truly are is love . I didn't understand this and came here to talk about that .

I have a little bit more of an understanding about traditional views of consciousness and so on through my learning here .

I've come to have a greater understanding .

It's fair to say though as I've already pointed out knowing what we are comes through experience .

I've watched my experience some more and documented here and I've reached the point I feel I have an understanding of what we are . Through experience . I'll share that now .
tomtrytostay

My friend Estren talked about the idea of being nothing . He talked about that at this point he felt that perhaps all he was is awareness but he wasn't sure about being even that .That was the key for me in a way . I'd seen this love but I was also conscious that this love had been observed . I couldn't get that . I thought am I the love or am I the observer of the love . I was stuck.

tomtrytostay
Well I watched my experience and I went through a bit of a journey . I'll document that journey on here after I've finished revealing what we are .
tomtrytostay
I realised that because free will doesn't exist I do not exist in any real sense at all . Upon realising that I saw that the awareness is the universe experiencing itself .

So the experience of love is had by the universe rather than by a me .
tomtrytostay
After this I saw that love , this inherent love , is an energy . This energy is life . I mean life force .

So the truth is that we are life and life is love .
tomtrytostay
I'll try to sum up . What we are , all of us , is a natural force . What all of us truly are is life and what life truly is is love .

So the truth is and the answer to the question what are we is love .

What are we ?
We are love .
tomtrytostay
Sure Alex but truly what are they ?
tomtrytostay

I just told my wife I've finisher documenting what I am . She said I know what you are , you're a frickin idiot .

tomtrytostay

Okay now the meaning of life . No, seriously .

tomtrytostay
The meaning of life is that we love .

We are so conditioned to believing that what makes something worthwhile is what we get . So when we think 'what is the meaning of life?' we are thinking in terms of what can life give us that can make it a worthwhile experience .

The reality though is that life's true worth comes not through what we get but through what we give .

The fact that we naturally love makes us worthwhile and we are life .

So the meaning of life is to love .
tomtrytostay
This ought to make sense to people really . Think about it . What truly matters to us ?

What would we die for ? It's the people that we love no ?

The only thing that really matters is love . Nothing else .
