Women know everything, some day you'll realize.

They're always right. Even when they're wrong, they're right.

Males usually only talk when there is a need to exchange information.

The bigger the generalization (3 billion+ for this one), the more suspect.

Much of the world's fictional literature throughout history would indicate that men often express themselves beyond the need to simply exchange information...

I agree that generalisations are suspect.

Therefore I the term "usually" - surely there are always exemptions.

But when it comes to chess being able to sit on a table for several hours without any conversation (what is mandatory in tournament chess for obvious reasons) definitely favours males.

I guess this might well be a reason that chess is not very popular among females. Many women seem to be uncomfortable when conversation dies down.

Women don't like games.

MEXIMARTINI

in my games the three days to make a move gets taken total advantage of by the ones i play against.  so no chatter here other than me saying, "make your move already!!"  Cool

Lake Norman is hardly a dump. It's actually quite lovely and well kept. When it was built, in the 1960s I think, it was the largest man-made lake east of the Mississippi.  I learned to swim in Lake Norman, but mostly I like to watch the sail boat regattas.  What is your alma mater, if you don't mind saying?

Oh.  Was definitely misinformed.  I see you learned to swim out of Lake Norman too.

Keeping my alma mater private.  Nothing personal.  :)

That's perfectly fine. I'd tell you mine but I don't have one.

batgirl

Is that a party college?

batgirl

Morphy attended the law school at the University of Louisianna following his graduation from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama.

batgirl

I doubt they had party colleges in the mid 19th century, unless the Jesuits at Spring Hill were way ahead of their time.

wow, I have to play more turn-based (i.e, correspondence) chess here. There's definitely a hard core of people interested in conversing over a game of chess. That's something of a pleasant surprise for me. So far, I don't think Ive said more than "good chess" at the beginning of a game or "good game" at the end. Whether it's discussing the myriad details of sex or of isolated Qpawns or living and functioning in a different culture, I love to exchange information and ideas with other people.I would love to meet some of you online.

I'm always up for meeting new and interesting people. Thus playing chess is always a plus!
