Maybe look for a chess 'social' group near your town. Otherwise, Facebook groups with like interest can be a start; but to meet up with someone who enjoys the same things, Chess, etc... would best be at a very public coffee house mid-day. Bars in the male mind can be associated with more than just Chess unless that is another goal. Just sayin.

That’s simply to support Ukraine. I usually would use the international one.
I agree with @retrooper10836 and with @Marksaheel. Social media sites often tend to promote a false closeness and intimacy between its members. I’ve had many FB friends say to me “You know you can trust me, you can tell me anything.” (Get real!). After 3 months, I’m already starting to get sick of Facebook. During the pandemic, we were all stuck inside so social media became extremely important as so many people were depressed, out of work, lonely, or ALL THREE. I think a OTB chess club sounds great. When I win, I won’t be able to yell “Boom!” or “In yo face!” but I’ll be able to see my opponent’s eyes and body language.
I think what’s nice is we all here benefited making a family like setting of connecting during the rather difficult turmoil the world’s been going through at least a few yrs and there’s comfort here, that I’m sure even newbies who were hoping to find similarities are grateful they found cc, it’s forums and this site is by far better to connect than them all in my opinion, twitter, tik talk, fbook etc etc none compare to the comfort here I do believe. 
Yes, the forum page and all of the interesting people, and all the drama and all of the silliness, make chess.com unique!
