He made Twin Peaks, Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive, Wild At Heart etc... (unfortunately, He also made that awful Dune movie)

Eraserhead?!  I did hear of that movie, many many years ago.  I was afraid to see it because I thought I'd have nightmares.   I also saw little of blue velvet which seems much more 'normal'  to me.  I have to see blue velvet entirely, my friend told me about what happens the story and it sounds interesting.  Lynch has been around for a while.  I checked out that Inland Empire on a search, very unusual indeed.  Even his filmmaking technique is unusal with him not always knowing what is going to happen next.  Although I worry that Inland Empire would depress me or give me nightmares years into the future. My friend has made me more interested in the classic movies, but still don't know too much about them. However, I will stick to the classics I can handle. I don't like them too bloody or too strange since their effect is lasting.

Yes I am being serious; I can't get enough of that film! I've seen it upwards of ten times. Rom-coms with Hugh Grant and Colin Firth are the best. Don't let my outfit fool you:).

Well everyone to their own i guess. Thing with British rom coms is, is they give other nations the notion that all English live next to the Thames and when we open our front doors, there stands Big ben, erect as can be. Richard Curtis's films are always full of new Labour luvvies too.

No it didn't. Perhaps you've heard of a little radio broadcast called War of the Worlds.

The problem with hugh grant films is after seeing his films, American tourists come here with the notion we all speak with his accent and are a bunch of snooty nosed stiff upper lipped wa..s.  Yeah maybe back in the 50s!

The thing about Americans and English accents is that generally we don't know one from another. You could be of the lowest socio-economic class, from a dirt-poor mining town in Northern England, but if you came here people would treat you like you were Little Lord Fauntleroy.

I've noticed nobodies mentioned 3 men and a baby. That bit at the end where all three men have the pram customised with an elongated handlebar so they can all push the pram at the same time makes me want to vomit ( like Richard Curtis films ).

Thats true. All American accents nearly sound the same. The two that i do notice there's a difference is is the redneck type drawl and the really loud one that you can ear from miles away like NY or LA and like whatever and like hellooo and like don't go there and like thats so totally huh, etc...

Jason X.

Oh wait, best movie? Hmm... not a big movie watcher, but I'd go with Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I really loved Finding Neverland as well. Another favorite, Les boys 2, a french canadian movie which I don't think has been translated to english.

Celebane
The Princess Bride... how can you not like a movie with chases, escapes, swordfighting not to mention true love.

My favorite French Canadian film is La Face Cachée de la Lune

... or perhaps Le Déclin de L'empire Américain. One thing is for certain. It is absolutely not Léolo! I didn't make it to the end of that last one.

I would say Gettysburg.  It is one of the finest America Civil War films ever.  Grand in scope, brought to life by some wonderful acting, and filmed on location, this is a rare treat for ACW buffs everywhere.

Hopefully, with the 150th anniversary of the ACW arriving in 2011, Hollywood will start making some news flicks.

Apparently, Kim Jong-il is a massive fan of 300. This is straight up, I'm no joking about.

Lord Svenstickov- Do I detect a hint of Sarcasim in your voice. Hugh Grant is evil. If the devil does exsist, and if he does plan to walk the earth-he'd be in the form of Hugh Grant. Maybe Divine Brown was our saviour, trying to destroy his career/body of work.

If your looking for a tear jerker, Bicycle Theives will do it for ya. I think there was a re-make, I've not seen it, but the original is tops.

For something funny-I guess The Big Lebowski-it has real larger than life characters.

For pure werdio/horror- it has to be Audition.

and for something real bonkers, you've got to check out Daisies, it's a czecholslovakian film from 1966.

If you want to see, a creepy-trippy-rabbit sequence, then look at Watership Down.

I don't have a fave film, it's more what I want at the time. I've never seen Godfather, so I've still got that to look forward to :)
