When You Can't Support Your Arguement & Feel You Are Losing - Block!

What an interesting turn! I was posting on a topic supporting the OP's use of an image of Trump as his avatar. Apparently it had been removed and the OP felt this was political bias against him. I was supporting the OP - and he BLOCKED me!

Of course, Trump is a galvanizing figure; you would have to be from another planet not to understand this. Likely the reason the avatar was removed in the first place because of the strong emotions his image can generate. The OP either would not see this, could not see this, or refused to accept this. However, I agreed with the OP that his choice of avatar should be respected.

My reasons, however, were somewhat selfish. I like Trump supporters using his image, as it tells me instantly where their political views lie and what their thinking may be. I said as much to this OP. It seems he took offence to this. And perhaps to my admission that while I once admired Trump and used to have two of his books, in recent years I have changed my opinion due to his actions.

I think what may have pushed the OP too far; however, was questioning his insistence that his post was in no way political - even though Political was the very first word in his topic. Imagine that! So I made a reference to George Orwell's 1984. Too much? I didn't think so.

Anyway, rather than allow for the free discourse of opinion (and remember, I was agreeing with him), I find myself blocked. Apparently, he did not feel comfortable enough to allow me to continue expressing myself.

Anyway, if you are interested, here is a link to the original topic. I will let you decide . . .

No who asked?

I feel it isn't wise to mix politics with games. One key beauty of a game is that it lets us escape reality and not worry about the current state of the world, as horrible as it is right now, which is why I think having the image of a personality as polarizing as Trump is not fit for Chesscom. Just my opinion

Why did I get a notification for this post??

I lived in NYC when our leader was using people and going bankrupt to get out of paying them. E.t.c e.t.c e.t.c

I have no interest in reading anything about him. Nor any other politicians, especially on this website.

Please keep politics off this site.

FB is the perfect place for that nonsense.

I call it nonsense because the "two sides" are so galvanized. At this point,  perhaps at no point,  adult discussion and reasoning is off the table. People just argue. It's insanity. And unhealthy.

I still don't understand why I got this notification or why you would even care if you got blocked.

I've been homebound and now bedridden for 15 years-- after starting a  successful commercial photo business in NYC with no seed money at age 18 (cd dvd covers; magazines; advertising, e.t.c), I was hit by a car after 10 years of traveling the country; and playing music in clubs and on college radio for a hobby. I was robbed of that. But I still have my mind, and I have to decide what I'm going to focus on:  if it makes me miserable? No. If it brings me peace?  Yes.

Life is short.

Please focus on the positive.

Everything else just sucks your energy dry.

Peace.

I would suggest moving on.

Or stay angry, confused, whatever.

It's your choice.

If you want peace-- let it go.
