Given that our species has always survived due to attraction to the opposite sex (and lots of other unrelated factors), I don’t have an answer for you.

So being gay is a perfectly natural variation of the human being, just like Ginger hair, blue eyes and so on and on.

We are a sexual species, this is how we get our genetic diversity.
There are many other methods of this but that’s not important.
Due to the fact that we can experience sexual pleasure it makes sense we would want to have it.
Many creatures are aware that if the go through this activity with the opposite sex, they will create a child.
Many creatures now that a child would only bring difficulty for the current situation, enter homosexuality.
80% of zebras partake in homosexual activity. In fact, most of all mammals do. Reptiles can get so gay I don’t know if you can even consider it gay.
