why do we call endgames endgame and not closing (opposite of opening) ???

Hi, I also like to play with words, al be it in a foreign language ( English is not my  --  and perhaps also not your --  mother language ), so I think an opening is not just making open, but a favourable set of conditions for a good beginning of playing chess.

A closure means to stop playing ( I think ) and an ending is the last stage in the game, so :  endgame.
