Debate about being vegan/vegetarian here

They are both living things that died. I don’t see how animals are more important than plants
Alive ≠ Conscious.
Being alive is your body being capable of biological processes. Plants and animals are alive.
Being conscious is being aware of your existence. Animals are very likely to be conscious, humans are conscious.

And even if they aren’t, they are both dead when you eat them, so if they are conscious doesn’t matter. And even then, just because a living thing isn’t conscious, doesn’t mean that they deserve to be alive any less than the rest of us. For instance, if a human was in a cryochamber, and wasn’t conscious, why would they deserve to be alive less than someone who was conscious?

They cannot feel pain nor truly care about being dead if they’re not conscious.
A human in a cryochamber can continue to be conscious after waking up.

Plants whole goal is to survive, mate, and keep their species running. Why should it matter if they can think about that or not?

1 fish
2 chicken
3 beef
4 bacon
5 lamb
6 duck
7 steak
(There are more, i just don’t feel like ranking them)

If they can’t think about it, then thet don’t actually care, nor do they have the capacity to.
Life and consciousness are not inseparable concepts.
