Invent a small hand held communication device with a screen. Over the years the percentage of humanity which cannot function without one will steadily increase. An additional bonus is that people will pay you substantial sums of money in order to own such a device. Then you can also communicate whichever message you wish to the people through this device and convince them both to part with further money for other 'essential products' and skilfully use persuasive language to bring their opinions into line with your own. One drawback is that your slaves will occasionally kill and seriously injure other slaves whilst attempting to simultaneously drive and use the device. As a considerate master you should also think about installing padding on all lampposts to prevent injury caused by walking without looking forwards.

Become the first totalitarian in office. If your libertarian friends disagree just lend them a few extra bucks.
