In a sense, I would say the world is already dominated
Dominated by who, humans? We may be the same species, but that means nothing when we have such drastically different ideas.

first thing that comes to mind is to get the nuclear launch codes but it's hard to ensure EVERYONE dies without also dying yourself

Why make a plan when I already dominate it.
Why would you want to dominate the world? If you are seeking power/wealth, there are much easier ways to get that, with significantly lower risk of assassination
What if I want all of the power and all of the wealth
Wealth is worthless when you are the only one with it.
You can have all the power though, I guess. Just give others the illusion of power.

I have a very elaborate plan
Complete school
Get a Phd in computer programming
Work in some big tech company
Work my way up the ranks at that company
Eventually become the CEO or some other high position that does no work but gets paid
Repeat this proccess at other companies without resigning frkm any of the ones i already got employed to
The world will respevt me for managing many big companies
BILLIONAIRRE
THEN SHUT DOWN ALL OF THE COMPANIES FOR EVERYBODY EXCEPT FOR ME
UNDERMINE THE GAS INDUSTRY BY MAKING A CAR THAT RUN ON CARBON DIOXIDE
TACKLE THE OIL INDUSTRY THROUGH BUYING UP THE MAJOR PRODUCES OF OIL AND SPLIT IT ALL UP BASED ON POPULATION FOR EVERY COUNTRY
DO THE SAME WITH GRAIN, FARMING, PROCCESSED FOOD, AND EVERYDAY ITEMS.
CONTROLLING ALL OF THE WORLDS MAJOR INDUSTRIES WILL CEMENT AS THE DOMJNATOR OF THE WORLD
