worried about renewal

I do hope renewal of membership is not automatic. Can someone please advise on this? And if it is then how does one go about cancelling ones membership. Thanks.

It is automatic, but a quick search for "renewal" will bring you to the right link showing how to cancel.  Try that little box in the upper right hand corner.

Why do you want to cancel?

You have to cancel immediately upon paying, so there is no unauthorized renewal once the period you have paid for ends.

Edit: Unauthorized is too harsh. We probably agreed to it somewhere when buying premium membership.

Yes this is annoying. I do not want auto renew, I may well renew it but I want to be able to decide this for myself. (I joined yesterday). Currently searching for the little tickbox...

If you go to your account page at http://www.chess.com/home/account.html where you will see a link toward the top to cancel/end your premium membership subscription so that it does not auto-renew on the next scheduled period.

This is one time I don't mind the auto-renew feature! This is a great website and resource and I plan to stay a member a long time.

I consider it money well spent.... I understand the need to police auto renewels though ... They pop up when you least expect it
