Aimchess??? Shouldn’t that sort of feedback be available to members already?

If a site like Aimchess can search my Chess.com games by simply using my Chess.com user name, and generate a report of where my strengths and weaknesses are based upon my openings, time per move, inaccuracies etc relative to my rating group and so on, why isn’t Chess.com offering the same service to members?
I think Aimchess has a great idea here but as a Diamond member of Chess.com it seems that I shouldn’t need to subscribe and pay to yet another site for a 3rd party report on my Chess.com games.
Are Chess.com working on something similar? Is it there already but just not as obvious?

Hmm, well what kind of stuff did they tell you?

I looked it up. There a couple of Reddit topics on it. It appears to be a new service that is only in beta.

It sounds interesting.

Chess.com is probably working on dozens of projects to make better use of their data.

The “free” (I guess to get you to sign up) version, analysed my rapid games here and gives you data on how you scored relative to your “rating group” with respect to converting won games, long thinks that still led to mistakes and blunders, tactical strength, openings you were successful with versus openings you weren’t, etc.
I came across it via Facebook.

The site has a developer API and program, so people can come up with a lot of different ways to use data exposed by that API. There probably is some realty interesting ideas out there, but the site only has so many cycles to spend. They could be working on some data analytics things like that, but they don't normally talk about things until they get closer to release.

New reviews of aimchess? How well does it work?

rvenhuizen

Here is a recent review I found https://lichess.org/forum/team-adult-improvers/web-resources-for-improvement-aimchesscom

Im looking for reviews, opinions and informations about aimchess, but I can't find almost anything about it. No one is talking about it, maybe no one is using? or no one know it? and looks like a very nice resource to improve

Não sei ainda,  estou na mesma situação.

i guess it is ok if they call it AIM chess.  Not too many people will really be tricked into thinking it means AOL Instant Messenger chess happy.png

Here's my review of Aimchess as a premium member

Everyday, it creates a personalised daily workout for you with different type of exercises. They are all pretty good except two.

1. Opening improver.

It shows a game of yours where you made a mistake in the opening. But sometimes, they aren't mistake at all. E.g. Once, it showed me a sicilian game where I played e6 but it said it was a mistake and that i should have played e5. (e6 is actually best according to chess.com or it's just a matter of taste)

2. Advantage capitalisation

It shows you a game where you had an advantage but lost and wants you to take the position you still had an advantage in and beat the engine. Yes, beat the engine. It expects you to pick up a middlegame position with both queens still on the board and beat the engine with a mere -5 advantage because you're up a bishop... yes, only up a bishop.

Another con is if you want to analyse a puzzle or whatever with the engine, the engine always lags.

Also, you can chose which game format from your games on cheescom or lichess you wish them to use in the exercises. But you can only chose between bullet, blitz and rapid. As an avid Classical player on lichess, i wish they would include that one too.

Other than that, the site is pretty good. I like their personalised puzzles, tactics, exercises and lessons, among other things which i don't use too often but will I keep buying premium next year if nothing changes? Nope.

I realize the op is two years old, but maybe it's a moot point now that Chess.com has purchased (or is in the process of purchasing) Play Magnus, which owns AimChess.

I wish chesscom would improve the « perspective » by turning it into daily exercises to improve, based on my own mistakes in my own games

Chess.com has implemented the insight feature, but it's too limited and doesn't allow us to personalize training like in aimchess. I sure hope that they do more with it.

aimchess.com is nothing compared to lichess.org puzzle systems. If you are able to solve a 2200 puzzle on lichess.org consistently, you should be well off on aimchess.com. aimchess.com does not allow for rapid immediate rating evaluations like lichess.org. You do have to work your way up. I think it's an interesting puzzle trainer once you work your way up to the top levels around 2000. I am rated anywhere between 1900 and 2200 on lichess.org or chess.com for puzzles, but seriously, once you know the basic puzzle patterns, you can solve almost any puzzle they give you. I'd say that aimchess.com is probably for use as an advanced personal puzzle trainer. chessable.com is an alternative if you want to learn openings. Their system is incredibly advanced but the downside is, I don't have $1,000 to blow on ten courses. It's top notch science though. It's a better service that aimchess, lichess, chess.com, chess.org, and the Internet chess club don't have. I seriously recommend chessable for those who have money. Insights are better on lichess since that site is free and super detailed. chess.com is almost a waste of money. lol. It's got it's own services though and you could probably improve as a chess player. I like that whiskey on the rooks guy. He seems to be an improving chess player. I tried out the Internet chess club and left right away because I don't like how the board is set up on my computer.

The site has a Public API that was used to get the games, though they may have had a more formal agreement in place to ease traffic limits.

That said, Aimchess is a chess.com affiliated company now as part of the Play Magnus acquisition.

Yes, it is part of chess.com now .and I'm cancelling my subscription to it...they've been promising to give the ability to upload your OTB games for most of the analysis for a year now. 'In the works' only goes so far with me. FWIW, I can upload those game to chess.com and get 'somewhat similar' analysis.
