Some bugs come in the name of features and some features in the name of bugs. What matters is what actually a 'bug' or 'feature' does in reality. Only the programmers who created them know the real purpose. tongue.png

Bug are unintentional.

Only the bug creators know whether bugs are intentional or unintentional. wink.png

By definition. Sheesh.

I will tell you an example:

I have a club named https://www.chess.com/club/read-between-the-lines-jijos-club.

A few minutes back I have just sent three persons an invitation to join this club. And my club setting is private. The first one accepted my invitation and I accepted his request to join the club and now he is in the club. Two other persons directly joined the club even without my permission even though I must accept anybody's request to join my club. I didn't get any notification that these two people joined the club. When I checked the club by chance, I understood that these two persons are in the club. I double checked my club setting out of sheer doubt. And I found that my club is in private mode that only the persons whom I accept can join the club. Then, how those two people can directly join the club without my permission while club setting is in private mode?

Is it an intentional or unintentional bug?wink.png

I don't understand.

I hope some programmers can answer it.

I do wonder sometimes how these idiots become admins ... If you sent them an invite they don't have to apply to join the club. They click the "join now" link and hey presto they are in your club...

O.K. I didn't know that. Thanks for that information.

And where did your learn calling someone 'idiot' when someone says something wrong out of his/her ignorance?

Good admins always try to help others and correct their mistakes by advising them in a cultural and good way.

Is it calling someone 'idiot' a good habit?

Think for yourself and find out a solution for your own good.

That's intentional, and it's no bug. If you send them an invite, they can join from the invitation, no applications needed.

And again, a bug is always unintentional. By definition, it's an accidental error in the code of an application like this website. If it is intentional, like the feature you just described, it's not a bug. It's a feature that the programmer of the application purposely put into the code.

Thanks very much for the right information.happy.png I never knew all these things.happy.png

I have been always wondering what a 'bug' or a 'feature' is. You have fully clarified my doubts. happy.png

Calling someone and 'idiot' is not the solution to a problem. And beating around the bush is also not a solution to  questions.

Look how BlunderousWilliam clarified my doubts and how he skillfully answered my questions. I learnt a lot from him. He is the real 'admin'. An admin's duty is to create a peaceful, nice and productive atmosphere. And BlunderousWilliam did it very effectively by helping me clarifying my doubts and he could create here a nice atmosphere.

But, you called not only me an 'idiot' but also all other admins who do mistakes by ignorance.

I object your way of talking fully and completely. If you can't find your own mistakes, I can't help you. All I can tell you is 'what you think you become'. Have beautiful days ahead!

I must admit that as a long term diamond member and someone who has greatly enjoyed this site for a number of years (and mostly still does) I am growing impatient with recent happenings. And I am generally a patient man.

1. This captcha nonsense for every single message now. I don't know how serious these 'attacks' are which it is supposed to be preventing but as a brief anecdote I was randomly sent by message some images of g*y p*rn a month or so ago. Was it some malicious bot? Who knows, but I deleted the message and reported the sender - simple. I can see how something like this would be entirely inappropriate for the 10 year old members to see but you know what? Maybe all these kids should be on chesskid and not here. Not a word anywhere from staff about why this has been introduced, if it will be permanent etc.

2. Unwarranted mutings by autobots and slow and useless response from help and support. Indeed, non-human response from help and support. This is taking the mickey - employ some staff.

3. Tedious over moderation of certain things in forums whilst other things are ignored. @AlCzervik for what it's worth I thought the decision to lock your 'Erik, we are frustrated' thread was an absolute joke and sends a terrible message around willingness to hear criticism.

4. Regular glitches around club notifications and team matches, a long running issue as @blackfirestorm has posted about. A minor irritation for me as SA of a couple of clubs but a nightmare for those heavily involved with many. Not a word from staff on her thread about this.

5. The recent decision to bump all daily ratings up which was then swiftly reversed. I mean, what a waste of time and energy for something clearly ill judged. Sort out the important stuff instead like the functionality of the site.

6. The minor irritation of when threads get moved whilst you are in the process of compiling a reply everything you typed is lost as you get the error page. Not a big deal for a couple of sentences but pretty soul destroying if you spent 20 minutes analysing a game for someone for example.

7. The growing feeling that more and more automation is being introduced and less and less human involvement is present. It feels to me that customer satisfaction is very far down the list of priorities.

There, that rant should satisfy me for a few weeks.

8. The elimination educational/instructional articles to make the Article section almost exclusively about PogChamps.

Yes. I understand the need to promote and the theory that this will bring a new audience. It doesn't interest me but I also understand that it will interest others. Fine, but why can't we have both?

batgirl

Exactly... that's my question as well.
