Feature Request: Shareable Solvable Puzzles (Without Affecting Rating)

Hi Chess.com team,

I’d like to request a feature that allows users to share puzzles they encounter while using the Puzzles feature in a way that the recipient can solve them interactively, just like during normal puzzle practice.

Currently, when a puzzle is shared, it opens in analysis mode, which is not ideal. The recipient sees the solution immediately or cannot engage with it in the intended puzzle-solving format.

What I’m Suggesting:

  • A new “Share as Puzzle” option for puzzles we encounter.

  • When shared, the recipient receives the puzzle in a solvable format, identical to the original experience.

  • Solving the shared puzzle should not affect the recipient’s puzzle rating.

  • This would make it easier to challenge friends or discuss interesting positions in a more engaging and intuitive way.

This would enhance the community aspect of Chess.com and encourage collaborative learning.

Thanks for considering this request!

Best,

WolfOnTheBoard

Thank you for your response and for sharing the article on embedding puzzles in forums. I appreciate your time.

However, I believe there may have been a misunderstanding. My original request was not about embedding puzzles in forum posts, but rather about sharing a puzzle from the Puzzles feature in a way that allows the recipient to solve it interactively, just like they would in the puzzle training environment.

Currently, when we share a puzzle, it opens in analysis mode, where the recipient can see the solution or cannot engage with the puzzle as an actual exercise. What I’m suggesting is:

  • A “Share as Puzzle” option.

  • When used, the recipient receives the puzzle in an interactive, solvable format (like in Puzzle Rush or the standard puzzle trainer).

  • Solving the puzzle this way would not affect the recipient’s puzzle rating.

  • This would enable users to challenge friends or discuss positions in a more engaging, hands-on manner.

The ability to truly solve the shared puzzle rather than just view it in analysis mode would enhance the learning experience and foster better community interaction.

Please let me know if this is something your product team might consider, or if there’s a workaround I may have missed.

I do know this is possible, as I’ve seen it done many times before. I just couldn’t tell you how…
