I assume Oct's figures will be roughly in the same ball park.

Thanks for sharing, man. Really interesting.

Individual accounts muted Vs mute actions - what are those?

So many reports may also indicate that members are too sensitive.

So many accounts muted/closed in a month!  Not necessarily all belonging to different people.

I suspect those statistics reflect staff action which is documented via reports. They probably don't include mod actions which aren't reported and are documented in a different way.

those stats are just proof of the amount of abuse and TOS violations chess.com is experiencing. That's not a good thing lol.

It shows the effort being made.

There are millions of active members. It is impossible to police millions of members through live moderation of every chat.

Forkedagain may have been able to police hundreds of members but it is different when you have millions.

The only way to do it would be a draconian system like they have in China. I don't think anybody wants that.

The reporting system is working.

We're not talking about moderating the entire chess.com community. This post is specifically about trolls and people who post rubbish. Try reading the comments a bit before commenting.

I did. I agree that it's annoying but I don't think hiring an army of censors would be a good solution.

The trolls are frequently removed and pop up over and over.

"there's no point discussing it anymore because chess.com simply won't do anything"........  then why are you hear perpetually repeating YOUR situation ad nauseum. We've been through this before. Chess.com offered you numerous remedies and you refused all of them. Out of 31 million members, nobody would of done that.....except you. Its in your DNA. meh.png  Last week, you we're arguing with baddogno. shock.png  I mean....who does that?  He's the nicest member here and simply tries to help people answering questions.

Thanks @batgirl.  Is there a full report somewhere? #modsmatter 😊

There are millions of members but the forums aren't that vast.  I come here and recognize a pretty good percentage of names and see lots of trolls and people who need to be banned or muted.  Just one guy can get a pretty good feel for the trouble spots, by doing a quick glance at the most active threads and of course, paying attention to the reported problems!

If you spend any time around here you probably recognize 20 frequent posters at least.  Make them all moderators.  Then make sure they are expected to moderate.

1. Violation of any forum guideline - Friendly reminder in the thread

2.  Second violation - (optional for normally good members) private message with stern warning

3.  Further violations, mute

4.  Ban

For anyone who has just joined and immediately are violating the rules, skip steps 1 thru 3 and ban.

Combine that with all the things that the automated system could do but isn't, like what redgirlz was talking about, and this place would be worlds better.  Simple.

The first post suggested that the forums are part of a Russian plot.

By his standards, the moderators should have closed the thread and banned him after that first post...

It would be nice if Erik got a report about drmrboss's account. I don't care if his rating is over 2000......I don't care if he's a paying member. His account is extremely suspicious. He's skirting the rules and everybody knows it.

By not taking any action, it looks like an inside job.

The intel is in "Community Defenders".....not sorry.happy.png

Its not hard to figure out......he's been friends with EVERY banned account from 2Q.....jnewgames......superchessmachine......YGNR......etc, etc.  They connect on other chess sites.

Evryone who`ve been on the net for years should know army of trolls ( pros, paid or govt-backed ) exist in popular  sites, so its better to keep the usual treat to handle them, the warns, the mute, & finally ban. After al they give the sites traffic, its good for sites business, if you know how to handle them wink.png

The thing iz, topic like this or feed by harmful trolls should better Not on hot topics section even it get many feedback by users. Just a suggestion for Cc, please filter the hot topic section. This is not hot neither fun atol !

*snip fest*

The problem is that there is no such thing as a "ban"

The usual cast of characters keep opening accounts.  But if you do want to get a head start on when they are back, just check out drmrboss's "friends" page.

https://www.chess.com/member/drmrboss/friends?sortby=join_date&page=1

But to be fair, the bunny doesn't always judge people by the company they keep.

No one cares about ur intel.

You may not agree with Ron, which is fine.  But please dont speak for everyone.

Oh sorry, ALMOST everyone.

That group is made up of staff,  mods and selected members.  So you're not singling out Ron FYI

Let her attack me.....no big deal.  The point is drmrboss technically is not doing anything against the T.O.S  All I'm saying is its awfully suspicious.
