The new Review was fully released. There have been some changes integrated.

Hi all. Today we released the new version of Game Review on web to all members. While I know not everyone loves the change, it's something we are moving forward with. The feedback from the community was instrumental in improving the product since it was initially released as we have implemented many changes.

One new thing that I wanted to let people know about in particular is the "Show Played and Best Move Speech Bubbles" setting (see image below). Turning this setting on will let you see the Played and Best move speech bubbles from Coach on any given move without having to press the Best button (just scroll in the speech bubble area to go between them). This setting was added in direct response to feedback threads like this one.

This is absurd. On top of forcing us all back on to the new version that >95% of the people here have said they can't stand, now the analysis panel has been uselessly changed so that it's a pain now to toggle lines being displayed vs not. Maybe I'm a weird edge case but I spend a lot of time in analysis with just the eval bar on but like to be able to easily display the computer lines if I'm stuck but now the same button gives you all or nothing. Been a member here for 13 years but given how poorly all this has been handled (seemingly absorbing none of the negative feedback, just temporarily pacifying everyone by giving them the old interface back and barely interacting with all of us outside of several 'well actually...' posts) I will definitely join the others in cancelling my membership. Absolutely ridiculous.

I don't get what the thought process is when implementing such a change as this one. Fundamental things about UI design is being broken with this new design of game review. AND now game review won't even say what opening was played?!

Honestly the only thing that keeps me on chess.com instead of lichess was the game review and the fact that my friends play on here. Now I might as well switch over completely and hope to get my friends onto lichess instead.

I think the look is great but the human interface isn't... At least give us an option to revert back!!

I could accept having to deal with a redesign that simply moves things around a bit, but the fact that there are 0 functional improvements and the functionality that has been changed makes it much more difficult to use is infuriating. How many users that will be wowed by glossier layout or bigger text boxes are consistently trying to review games? Why would you make it more difficult to do things like continuing on to the next move or switching over to analysis? But above all of that the fact that you have the gall to say 'While I know not everyone loves the change, it's something we are moving forward with' is what settles it for me. Shrugging off the feedback from your PAYING members (and please don't continue with the whole we listened and incorporated your feedback thing because the only tweaks seem to be cosmetic) and refusing to shelve an incredibly unpopular update just because you'd have eat all the wasted developer hours is beyond insulting. I guess all we can do is vote with our money then- lichess here we come

I thought I mentioned that was the case already but yes I understand. My whole point was (like several of the other things mentioned) you've made a very common user interaction more difficult. You might say 'oh it's just 1 extra mouse click so who cares' but if you're used to doing all of those things 40+ times per review it becomes virtually unusable, all seemingly for the benefit of some imaginary user that can't find their glasses and needs everything displayed 3x larger than before

One of the reasons we added the single Analysis toggle with advanced options in the ellipsis (...) menu next to it is that we are starting to support more features in Analysis and there is not room for all of them to be top level toggles. If you look in the menu, you will see that you have options for Move Feedback (get classifications as you make moves in Analysis without having to run Game Review) and Suggestion Arrow (get an arrow to show you the best move on the board). We have even more coming here in the future that will give you even more tools to help you with your analysis experience

Why doesn't game review tell you what opening you've played anymore??

The quality of the game review was one of the few advantages chess.com had over lichess. Why have you deliberately spent time and money to remove that advantage?
