I’d love a setting that lets players choose different sound effects by action or piece type—moves, captures, castling, and so on. I’d pick classic warfare sounds, so when I play bullet or rapid, the game feels like a battle from historical eras such as Greek–Persian or Crusader–Saracen conflicts. The Civilization series is a great reference for how different civilizations can have distinct, immersive sound effects.
