Oh look! They've fiddled with the look and feel again.

@IMBacon - I seriously doubt it is just you.
It's some random baloney to fill a void where useful information used to be. They're going to lock down the stats eventually to entice (LOL) more members to pay. /facepalm

I get its not my site. I get i don't get to say how its run. I get all of that. What i don't get is "why" the changes, and "why" no explanation? It would be nice if someone from chess.com would explain the purpose behind "Total Moves" I dont have to agree with it, or even like it, but an explanation would be nice.

Whether you paid or not. You have just as much right to complain.

I think he should be grateful to the site that's he's played 9 years at absolutely no cost.
Get bent. I've been a member, paid and otherwise for as you say...a long time. I've earned the right to complain so bite it.

If you play a game and afterwards click on the opponent's name you're taken to their profile page..so far so good but they've altered how it looks by adding stupid stuff like, LOL, get this: "total moves"! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Total moves. Think about that for a second. Not total moves in a game but total moves period! The single most utterly useless "stat" they've chosen to highlight.
Phew....chess players these dinguses are not.
I like it. I find it entertaining to check others Total Moves. Guess we disagree on this one. But oh well.
It serves absolutely no purpose.
I think it's for the enjoyment of kids now.

If that's true then this place is doomed. Kids aren't stupid. They'll figure out it's a useless stat and ask themselves why they're here and why shouldn't they go where "real" players are. Pander to the lowest common denominator and at some point you're left with nothing. Which is a shame really since there used to be actual chess players here. Now? No one comes unless they're bribed. So it goes I guess.

You can make things better, or you can makes things easier. We live in a world where we want to make things easier.

Wrong. We are ALL paying. Chess.com makes money off us being on their site via advertising. We are paying whether we pay up front or (probably more) behind the scenes. Chungle has every right to point out the inconsistencies and issues of the site.
Why work on code that improves core functionality and performance when you can put up stats like Total Moves and .. FLAIR.. ?
--- Good points.

Well, now how does one edit images on one’s profile page? I have flair (?), but no ability to post important things such as chess memes.
Take back my flair! I took a jillion chess pics last week...

there are a few stock responses cc gives when pressed:
"this is to improve functionality"
"our coding process works better this way"
"this change was necessary for new features"
staff has learned the art of bs.

Essentially, they are using a javascript package - one of the Vue packages, possibly. Widget management varies wildly from package to package. And, unless one is ready to dig deep in to the widget code and fiddle with the constructs (which also utterly ruins upgrades when they are rolled out), one is essentially stuck with the confines of the code base.
Futureware was the primary excuse given by the staff for the obscenely large Move History window (relative to the chess board size). But, rather than expand on that, or show improvement in August, we instead get teen-FLAIR and useless Total Moves stats. The Move History window is undoubtedly going to be populated by floating, multi-colored butterflies and the latest questionably R-rated Beyonce video playing in the background.
Until then, enjoy squabbling with the equally pointless responses by Martin_Stahl. I sense its a matter of time before staff begin shutting down these threads for one reason or another. (https://www.chess.com/forum/view/suggestions/express-if-you-like-or-do-not-like-the-new-version-of-the-site) Long live the reasoned adult responses. 👍
