Playing vs computer should have the option to confirm moves

As title says... playing vs computer should have the option to confirm moves like normal matches. The difference in UX is super off putting

Should also have "its your turn" notifications (for matches against other players) on mobile while playing against the computer - you have 0 way to check (even with notifications turned on) while you're playing - you have to manually keep going back to Home to check

The computers/bots I have played moved almost immediately.  I can't understand when you would be kept waiting.

Also, allowing takebacks is an option.

I'm talking about this confirmation. Problem isn't with the timing of the bots, but rather lack of this little confirmation when i've come to expect it while playing everywhere else

Takebacks for sure are an option, but also are (rightly) counted as punishments (granted, its only pointless little stars being taken away for takebacks, but human nature makes me care about those lil stars!). It's not fun being 'punished' for misclicks which are very easy to do on mobile.

@justbefair was partially replying to this part. The bots move quickly, so there really isn't much of a need for a notification they've moved.

Ah, good catch! This was unclear on my end - I mean notifications for regular matches (PvP) while playing vs a computer.

But….you literally get infinite time against bots….why you need confirm….

please don’t somehow Harass me over this post.

I agree confirm is wanted for bots, mobile devices with fingers can be sloppy.

misclicks are super easy to do on mobile, and plus it can be nice to 'preview' a move to be able to better see lines before committing to it

They are unrated. if misclick, just resign and start new game. They don’t even show in your game archive unless you save it. so forget the badly played ones and save the brilliant ones.

Don’t know why caulstoner disliked this. I mean….it’s true, people don’t admit it but people do this all the time. Why be upset about this?

Restarting a game due to a single misclick is the most wild "fix" for this that i could think of. Why not just resolve the core problem w/ an optional mechanic (confirm moves) which already exists in the codebase? (ie: should take 15 mins to implement)

hovatovabb

I completely support the request of casualstoner. It's very annoying to restart the game because of a misclick. I would also really appreciate the option of "confirm move" against computer.

Agree with casualstoner. I am used to having the confirm option on my pvp games. I always want to review the board after moving my piece, before confirming.

Yep, agreed this is super annoying.
You should be able to practice like you play, right?

You make a very good point here and I totally agree. On Android we can play live chess with Confirm Each Move.

They used to offer the bots in Live Games that allowed us to practice against them with Confirm Each Move on Android, but I think users were gaming the bots in Live Games by playing rated games against the bots, so chesscom removed that feature.

We should be able to practice games, unrated, against the bots, just like we play against real users. I plan to submit a feature request for adding android Confirm Each Move against bots, I hope you do the same.

I also strongly support option to add confirm move playing against bots. Really annoying to be 15 minutes into a game and a simple misclick throws my queen into the next world.

Iris_for_the_Pin

So far, I (on an Android) have been just living with my mis-clicks because there was nothing to be done. So, I'll add my voice to this: Let us please have Confirm Moves in bot games on mobiles!

I went to the website - which is really hard to navigate on a phone BTW - and wasted lots if my life trying to figure out how to submit a suggestion. It keeps sending me around in circles, telling me how to make a suggestion without actually letting me do it. And for heavens sake, don't they realize that we can't "hover" on phones? Can someone here please tell me how to submit a suggestion ON AN ANDROID without having to email. Emailing involves a huge waiting time because they are so busy.

That Suggestion tool or email are the solutions. Posting in the forums is possible but staff may not see it

Came to agree and add to the desire around a confirm move button against computers. Practice like you play.

I also came here to say that chess.com should add a confirm move to computer games. It’s poor UX to have different controls for different modes.
