They Removed the Russian Flag (and Why That's Not Acceptable)

TL;DR They're restricting the pride of innocent people.

Let me preface this by saying that I, like everyone, strongly oppose the war in Ukraine. Simply, it was unjust and killed however many people from each country too much. Had he just settled for already being the president of the largest country with one of the 2 largest nuclear arsenals out there, we wouldn't be in this mess, in a WWIII threat. Now as to why what chess.com did was an inappropriate response.

Look at my flag, and you'll notice it's a link to an article and not a flag. That's what happens when you change your flag to the Russian flag. To understand the severity of what they did, we have to take a look inside of Russia. What are the civilians doing? First, let's look at how the Russian government talks about the war to its civilians. They're not. So what of those who know what's happening? Let's hit the streets. But be sure to wear a bulletproof vest, there are strays everywhere. That's right, the people are protesting. Not only that, but risking their lives, as they don't have the 1st amendment everywhere in the world, you know. Now tell me, do you see random government officials just casually playing a 3|0 blitz marathon on a daily basis? No, you see your average Joe. Remember, your average Joes are the ones that are doing the protesting, not the government officials, the ones actively concealing these things. And don't even get me started on the influence Russia/the USSR had on chess. Say what you want about them, they have (or had, in the case of the USSR) some serious chess skills, and I'm saying this as an American. So they're not only ensuring that proud Russians can't be proud anymore, but also disrespecting the brave protesters. Please just undo that change.
