Useless Features

During the 14 years I've been here, I saw an awesome improvement during the first 6 or 8 years, then a gradual decline since then.  Too much garbage has been forced on members, the design is kindergartenish and the attitude of the staff has devolved into arrogant self-absorption.   Quality has been eschewed and substituted with fluff and annoying "features."
But that's just my opinion.

+1 the UI is getting worse. the UI before was serious and looked neat.

And chess.com decides to mute me for this...ha ha laughable, muting members for giving feedback to the site. Listen chess.com, if you keep ignoring feedback, then nobody will be on the site anymore.

I mean, its like you're trying to get everybody to leave the site. Well, that's what happens if you dont give a f@#k about your members.

I got muted for making a forum asking about the Massive increase in mutes

Andrea

We have a very good feedback culture in our company as we know, how important it is and that we need it for our improvement.

First rule is to say thank you after every feedback happy.png

If you dont divulge this to members, then how are we supposed to know? Your warnings mean nothing because nobody even knows what they did wrong, all we get is a "You have not been following Community Guidelines" msg and nothing else. If we ask support team, then they don't even do their job. How embarrassing.

I know when mods mute, it is generally suggested to give a short message about why, but staff may not do the same when handling general abuse tickets.

Well, I didnt get a msg and support team blatantly ignores tickets when its their own job to answer them.

@Martin_Stahl I appreciate your engagement in supporting members and specially here in this forum with such a difficult and sensitive topic. i´m sure you take the needs of the customers seriously and search for solutions! Also your explanations help and bring clarification.

May I invite you to consider, that many members are very frustrated by the recent "wrong muted" errors, initiated not only by staff but also by muting bots. And they felt unfair treated for being muted not knowing the reason because no reason was given to them or it was wrong done by a bot which did not understand the meaning of a sentence which might have included a "bad word".

And that an improvement of the chess.com change management and muting process would lead to a win-win situation for both sides, customer and chess.com.

(The way I`m trained to give feedback)

I completely understand there's frustration and some of the more recent mutes related to club admin actions is supposed to be getting some configuration changes. As to the expletive filters, they are fairly simple word matches, so there isn't going to be context with that. On that, mutes due to missing context are likely way less common than actual valid mutes.

Your autobot has been broken for over a year and a half. Fix the stupid thing already or don't use it, simple.

I can't see the site removing it. It stops a lot of abuse.

Lord_Hammer

No, all it does is mute serious site users and doesn't even prevent trolls and toxic people.

Many people have cancelled their memberships and quit the site because of the useless autobot.

you dont have to get angry about it thou and can do it in a much more calmer way instead of raging and cursing (i cant comment really since i am blocked but guys maybe we should be thankful that we made it this far instead of screaming at these people who have made the site for what it is today)

i knew you get muted eventually with your raging problems against the mods and screaming at staff every day about problems. if you hate it so much then leave already cause we dont care about your problems. its not our fault you hate the site so you may as well leave if you cant stand it anymore hammer cause your always just going to be a small nail on this site with no power to tell us what to do

LOL. You're just a kid who knows nothing about what they are talking about. If a site can't take users feedback, then that's on them. It's always you clueless people who say stuff like, "Just leave if you hate it." If I hated the site, I'd leave and not even bother giving feedback to staff to try and improve the site.

And it's not "my" problems, clearly a lot of people know that the site is going downhill. And who's "we" here? You? I don't care if you don't care about my issues with the site, you're nothing to me. If staff doesn't care about issues users have with the site, then nobody will want to be on a site run by people who don't care about their members. I'll unblock you to see what ridiculous, nonsensical thing you have to say.

its nothing hammer and i agree with you that my point was useless but all i am saying is just be thankful for it as i know the site is not good than how it used to be but it has some improvement and the features make people happy. i know you hate some of the useless feature but thats the point of this site cause not everyone will like the same things but there are some that do and why should we have to stop them? there was one guy in the earlier comments here that talked about this since again i do hate some things and i aint perfect but we just have to learn to deal with it. the UI doesnt bother me much but it does with you and sure the quality could be bad but they are trying to just make the site more popular and it has been working lately especially with the big "boom" during quarantine. i am sorry if i upset you but i just hate that your getting really angry at the mods and staff going on these rants as they are nice people who do care about this and i would have loved if things could be more calmer

Don't expect me to be thankful for the ridiculous new features that nobody likes. Not everyone will like certain things, but the vast majority of people do not like most of the things chess.com has added. Probably the only one with positive reviews from the last year and half was the audit log.

No, we don't have to learn to "just deal with it." If I'm dissatisfied with something site-related, I WILL bring it up, just like 99% of people would do. We're supposed to try and make the site better, not put up with BS.

The staff do NOT care one bit. Have a look at this thread and see how many staff members responded to it. Zero did. Guess how many responses I got from 5-10 support emails in the last one and a half years about this topic? Zero. If staff cared, they would listen to our feedback instead of ignoring it and forcing their crap down our throats. If they cared, we wouldn't be in this situation in the first place. At this point, I can count in one hand how many good staff there are left, and the same can be said for mods too.

Lord_Hammer

Yup, and many have left the site because of the autobot. But that's what chess.com is good at, dissatisfying loyal members and getting them to quit the site.
