There is no software to download on the website and nothing to install.

The apps have to go through Apple and Google before they are posted.

Well , A Microsoft warning appears telling me to click on a box , I'm able to exit before damage is done . This only happens when I am logged on to chess.com .

Hmm,  chess.com doesn't control the ads you get. There could be ads from malicious vendors pretending to save you from malware.

I would contact support@chess.com to let them know.

ok , thanks nice person .

I can barely log on, these for me are pop up ads that try to scare you and mess up your browser so you have to exit and log back in.   A couple of them require a taskmanager kill to get the browser back up.  I don't get them on any other site.  Today has been a little better (allowing me to actually post this message, which was impossible all last week).   My machine appears to be clean, ive scanned it, Malwarebytes run, registry checked, startups checked, rootkit checked, cleaned everything with ccleaner, and again, its just CDC site, nothing else...  I don't think its me and I am an IT professional who has done sysadmin etc …

Are you still running Windows 7?

I have tried 3 times to type this comment on site, with no luck, due to popup ads. I keep getting redirected off the site. Which causes
my comment to go away and sends me back to the home screen. I had to type this comment in notepad then copy and paste here due to being redirected off the site and clearing my comment.
I can't even play a game against the computer due to the F@#%ING ADS interrupting my game and sending me off site. This is a great chess website.
I hope it stays that way and doen't start going to the dogs.

its win 10 updated.

And, its gone.   Have not seen one in 2-3 days, did nothing on my end.  If CDC did something (more likely, its the ad provider who cleaned house?) its fixed, whatever was going on.

I never get pop ups you need to purchase better security for your computer, be it malware applications, internet security applications, or a better router or change your internet provider.

KingSideInvasion

Are they like pop ups? It's probably not chess.com then.

I get a chess.com popup asking me to enable notifications. It asks me to click yes or no, but no matter which box I click on, no action is taken and the popup comes back with every mouse click as I navigate the site. WTF?

Gee. I can't imagine why you've been thrown off the site so many times.

You should report the problem to support@chess.com.  They do fix the problems after they are reported.

Haven't been yet despite popular demand.

You only joined two days ago. If you never were a previous member, then you have no basis to make any comments. If you were a previous member, then your account was closed for some reason.

The ads seen to be gone now.  THANK GOD!!  I couldn't use this site  for about a week due to the ridiculous amount of times it would get redirected to another page.  Seems to be okay now.

Glad to be a part of the best chess site on the internet.  Keep up the great work!!

ibeerby,

When I first joined CDC, I was a free member and the site was all advertisements.

After I paid for Gold Membership status, upgrading solely to get rid of the ads, all of the ads disappeared and my experience became much more enjoyable.

Well worth the money.

This topic comes up pretty often because it's an ongoing problem. Chess.com is well aware of it and apparently it's still a problem. I'm sure using ad blocking works but when I had a similar problem all I did was stop playing live chess. That solved it. It's true, for me anyway, that the problem is only here. Other chess sites dont have that problem so that's where I play. Chess.com is good for other things, and so far those interruptions haven't happened again. I admit it's a little confusing to me to offer a chess website and then make playing chess on it very undesirable.
