With all due respect Rollo, a quick look at your game archive suggests otherwise. This post was primarily triggered as a result of an unusual losing streak you had (overall dropping about 70-80 points over two days). Having looked at your games, I am confident that the majority of your opponents are not cheaters - a couple of games were somewhat suspicious but I do not see any "clear portrayal of the sudden and drastic shift in level of play that these suspicious accounts almost always exhibit".
I sincerely believe that you underestimate the ability of computers and humans alike. That is to say that you have a mistaken image of a what a 1500-level blitz player may be capable of, and more significantly what a computer-using cheater is capable of playing.
As a word of advice, you should assume that your opponents are NOT cheaters when you play them, this will help you play better and focus more on the game itself (and long losing/winning streaks are common for everyone at all levels, just take a break and/or try to understand what is going wrong in your play instead of assuming that "most of my opponents are cheaters" and taking the burden off of your own sub-par play).
Dear Chess.com Staff and Community,
Although I have written on this subject before, I feel more than ever that I must reiterate my stance on the subject in the hopes that we can have a meaningful discussion about one of the few ways left to combat cheating on the site.
Since all else has failed, and chess.com's failsafe against cheaters does not prove satisfactory, it should be the right of every player to inspect their opponent's profile and choose whether or not to play them, to abort games before moves have been made, and to do so repeatedly without penalty.
Why should I be punished for my unwillingness to play cheaters? A quick inspection of my previous ten 3min blitz games gives a clear portrayal of the sudden and drastic shift in level of play that these suspicious accounts almost always exhibit. Yet I am forced to play them or have to resign and lose anyway.
Bullet ratings are often a clear indicator of level of play, and I would like to reserve the right to choose not to play someone whose blitz rating is 1600 and bullet rating 1100. Unfortunately, the quantity of cheaters in the pool is very high, and their techniques for evading detection are becoming more advanced (playing poor openings, playing 2nd or 3rd best moves intermittently, avoiding CAPS and Avg. Diff. suspicions, etc.)
I state this with full knowledge of my own level of play and what I expect from someone with a similar level of play. I am often shocked by 2000+ level tactics being played instantly by players whose tactics ratings are 800-1500 and bullet rating 900-1100. I report the accounts but never receive back any points (unlike what happens with 2000+ rated players). If the resources are not available to combat cheating definitively through the site's own capabilities, then it should at the very least be the right of every player to choose not to perpetuate cheating by avoiding suspicious accounts.
I am looking forward to your feedback.
Chris (RolloOrollo)
