Ads are stealing time from the game

While playing chess some "ads" always turn up. They turn up as a text message in read in one of the text boxes to the right of the chess board. They say that this person and that person plays this or that game, check it out!

This is SO DISTURBING! The background is in yellow, and the text in read. It is like an alert message and it really coughts my attention. That is; every time I play I lose time checking your ads!

Honestly, if I shosuld pay for a premium membership I want to do it because of my free will, not because chess.com chose to piss me off. That kind of tactic will just make me angry, and I will talk in negative words about this site.

Will you stop doing that stupid ads, or will I pick another site to play on? The choice is yours.

Go to live chess, click settings, which is right below the alerts/friends/chat/games tab, and in the settings, click the alert tab. From there, turn off event announcements, and you hopefully won't get them anymore.

Translation to reality:

"Third-party ads not in the direct control of the owners of this site, who put lots of their own time and money into creating chess.com, and who provide the opportunity for many to access the site for free, with part of the cost paid via ads so that those who actually pay for this service don't have to bear the full economic burden of complainers that expect problem-free freebies is stealing time away from the game of starting threads complaining about the site instead of actually politely asking for help in how to disable the ads."

Hmm. Just who is doing the stealing here?

Thanks for the fix. I too was being distracted by these announcements.
