All The Reasons We Hate V3!

Thanks LegoPirate, that was helpful.

Indeed, many comments / criticisms of V3 are still in process while V2 is on life-support..  .  If I were a staffer, I would re-think the decision to step away from V2 so quickly in-so-far as users are not clamo(u)ring for chess.com to hurry up and trash V2 as soon as possible.  My point?  Step-back and figure out what makes V2 so compelling to those users..!!  There is something or some things that V2 still does better than V3, obviously.  Find those things, those ideas, those concepts and incorporate them in to V3.  Otherwise, this debate will only continue, even after the plug is pulled from V2.

Good post and well elucidated, I agree.

Slightly different topics:

Everyday, I login with the V3 App on my Android and I see the same entry point; I'm greeted with a game-chat message, "play like a man, dont look for drawish games".  While I've taken the advise to heart, with the classic chess.com app, I was never landed in a chat-message for an online/daily game.  It was either the top-most home page/frame or a game itself.
The slow pace of updates in V3 seems longer compared to what I recall with the classic chess.com app.  It feels heavier, cumbersome.  When I look to the 'forums' section, none of my bookmarked / tracking forum content is carried over from my laptop experience.  Now, that could be because I'm still primarily using V2 on my laptop, but even when I have dabbled with V3 on the laptop, still none of that content interaction seems to carry over bookmark-wise to the V3 android app.  Which begs the question---if the goal is to create a seamless user experience between the V3 app and the V3 browser interface, it is not working as intended in my opinion.  Something still needs to be tied together.  (or, in Connor's case, knit together)  If that is still in-the-works, I'm not sure why the hurry to switch over from V2.

  ...

The app hasn't had a lot of the features the site has and hasn't since I started using the beta, at least from the social aspects. Most of the chess and learning feature are there. Don't know if there are plans to make it more on par with the site, expecially when it comes to forums.

However, the app missing things shouldn't really have much impact on the site going live on v3, at least in my opinion. And really, the website works great for all the social features on a mobile browser. Live chat is the place it falls down the most and that may have more to do with screen size than anything else.

Several folks have threatened to leave because they can't find features that already exist.  Perhaps there should be better explanations or a video one provided through a link under the "?" icon in the menu

But you people would rather spend money on an inferior product.

Notice I didn't say where I play chess because freedom of speech makes chess.com cry.

I am always surprised that Chess.com tolerates you hereabouts, since all you seem to do is post disparaging things about them. I'm also surprised that given your avowed love of this other place that you continue to hang out here, at Chess.com - is that solely to say how good the other place is?

You also have a very sad misunderstanding of what "free speech" is about:

There's an even better XKCD comic about it, but it's a little strong in terms of language...

When I save a blog or news article to publish later, I cannot locate unpublished articles for the life of in the new update.

It would be nice if we were given the choice of selecting which groups/clubs to have on our profiles so we can quickly access the clubs we frequently visit.

Connor_Macleod1518

I don't have that problem kiwi.

Have a lollypin.png

(which actually is a pin... it's so annoying!!!)

It sure is. I've been told that the resign button in V3 is a flag icon. I've asked a member of staff to press it for you in our 960 game. Hope that helps. Laughing
