sorry to say i have never played vote chess and that i hope never will.it seams to me that if you cannot make your own move why rely on others to help you out of the mire

Like was said, it may not be a high priority and since it seem that no on has asked the help and support staff and just hoped they come on and read the forum that was created to talk about vote chess seems useless.  Send an official question thru channels and see what they say, period.  Then you will get an official answer back......The post it here.

I expect your hope will be realized, as I doubt anyone will ever force you to play a vote chess game against your will.

The vote chess format is a good way to learn how to analyze positions, seeing the thought processes of other people.  I think people with lower ratings may get more out of a vote chess game than those with higher ratings.

I agree with this but its not just lower rated players ... I have chatted with players as high as 2300 who have said that they too learn from the games because they are forced to make sure their analysis is good because the lower rated players are questioning their logic :)

I submitted a ticket into Tech Support. Just to see if there was a way that they would consider in resolving this issue. I'll post the response I get here so everybody will know what can be done.

I can answer that now :)  Its being discussed thats as good as i can offer at the moment sorry

Should we just change the votechess main page to display first the games you are in by how much time is left? Or maybe two lists - on top the games in progress, on bottom new games? Like tournaments?

I like the idea of viewing the vote chess games in order of least time left to move.... like with team matches on our profile pages.. you can see instantly what needs most urgent attention... also it isn't clear by viewing the link on the vote chess main page which side has, for example, 8 hours to move... it just says 8 hours.... we still have to click on it to see is it our side or their side that has 8 hours remaining... be good not to have to do this every time...

chess_kebabs

I agree Alan.. would save lots of running around, save us having to most of the time click on our profile, then find the group, then on vote chess, then the game...

Exciting!  This should make playing and captaining vote chess a lot easier.

This is why I started this thread ... I was never expecting miracles but we should be able to work together to get a better solution :)

go to your group, click on Members, then click on Vote chess and you get this list which is what we are looking for.  However you have to remember to go into each and every group you are a member of and do this every time you log on, unreasonable imo. Also it doesn't tell you who's move it is. What we want is in our online chess page to see this list like we see current status of our online games. You can hover your mouse over each game and see the position...strong players with few games will of course remember who's move it is once they see the position, weaker players and/or players with a lot of ongoing games will not.

chess_kebabs

yes, and to show which side has the time showing on the clock would be advantageous too.... it's Nuts to show the time left but not show which side has that time left.... and no, that wasn't an indirect plug for Chess Nuts.. lol

Whilst we are trying to fix up vote chess issues, here is another issue.. and one I did send a ticket for yonks ago.... I hate how members can join a game when they belong to both sides... how do we know they are not spying for the other team, relaying information back to the other side? We don't know... Most people would not do this, but I believe a minority would and do.... and when you are playing tournament games this can be VERY costly...

Staff set auto bans to STOP members who belong to both groups of team matches to play for either side, and I believe they should also impose those auto bans with vote chess.... why protect the groups for team matches but not vote chess?

Whether you've already voted or not is also a key grouping.

The games should sort first by:

  1. Our Move but I Haven't Voted
  2. Not Our Move
  3. Our Move but I Have Voted
in that Order, and then by the time until the next move is due (regardless of side) within each of those groupings.  This will give you the listing of games in precisely the order in which your vote will next be required.

Shouldn't 2 and 3 be swapped... not a huge deal if they are or not, but just seems more logical to want to see the game when it is our turn, even if we have voted, to check progress of vote stats and continuing discussions, before viewing game when opponent's turn, and keeps our turn all together... perhaps the games statuses could show different colour markings  if they aren't going to be put under specific headings. E.g. Red for my turn and my vote still to be made... Green for my turn still but have voted... blue for opponent's turn...

I have....

and more than once or twice....

I've had someone confess to me they were asked to spy against us...

chess_kebabs

Alan, it shouldn't be allowed to happen at all... why do staff bother then to stop members playing for either team for team matches when then belong to both groups... to help stop dodgy play...

chess_kebabs

They could still play for many games Alan.... just not the games that the groups they belong to are playing each other...and the majority do not belong to a zillion groups and play vote chess for them all... you are talking about a minority.

And that is by choice... security and prevention of cheating should be paramount...

chess_kebabs

No reason you can't still have fun playing chess Alan, just because prevention of cheating measures are placed...

Yes, you play in different team matches, but not in team matches where you belong to both groups of those team matches....

Same thing would occur with vote chess... you can still play in different vote chess matches, just not in matches you belong to both groups.

Same thing!

chess_kebabs

Can you honestly tell me Alan if you lose a tournament game, say a final game,  because your opponent's team cheated, whether by an engine use or by spying, that this doesn't bother you? Doesn't affect your 'fun' here? All those zillions of hours of dedicated hard work, trashed upon because of dishonesty?
