Yeah I want this back. Totally agree. I got way more reads and way more players in matches. Thanks Joakim.

ijgeoffrey

@Joakim, sounds good to me. Way better than how it works right now.

Spacebux

Ok, for me, in V3, clicking on 'Team XXYYZZ has new news' just sends me to the Club's main page.  If I scroll down, past the Club Notes, I can then see the list of News.  But, as we've discussed at length, just a list of all the News... not what's new News.  Nor does it seem to clear the link in my 'alert list'... i.e., I permanently have an 'Alert' for 'New News in Team XXYYZZ' in my Alert drop-down list.  It only clears out when I click on it in V2.

Its the same functionality for messages -- V3's list of my unread messages dates back several years, it seems.  Undecided  Granted, its not showing ALL of them, but I have a number that in V2 are considered 'read'.  Personal message admin leaves much to be desired, even in V3.

Staying on topic, however, the current version of V3 has many, many issues to resolve.

The previous system It was most read, now  it reads little the current system.

Can't Erik and chess.com see that many many groups are dying now? There are less activities in groups. Amount of Games and boards in Team matches have been dramatically reduced.

At least they should temporary reinstall it until their "better" solution are created.

TC2304

I support going back to the old system.

Atleast we should have a list of the members who red the news alert... so we can have an idea. Something must be done. I think the staff does not realise the huge trouble this change created and how many players it affects.

Nqmaime

I liked the news, as they were. Return our news back!

Spydervech

I agree and support the old system... Chages supposed to be for the improvement and not on the other way around...

VirtualKnightJoakim

"Atleast we should have a list of the members who red the news alert"... since only 0.4% read news after change (see first post), I think you are safe to assume that any given member currently has NOT read your news...

I know it is not a good think, but team "MONIKA" and other large groups have stopped playing open team matches until news can be fixed. We simply do not have time to PM everyone individually (as I do for smaller group) which seem to be only option with the way news work now to get a match reminder (or two) out???

DJ_Haubi

Before you turn the matches totally down you should at least try smaller

matches (against smaller groups) where no pushing is needed. The longer

you wait the more difficult it will be to bring them back to life.

As the motivated players are still hungry for matches they're storming

now the matches of those groups where they still can find any.

Why should they later turn to play for those groups which didn't offer

matches? They don't think about the problems of admins, they simply

want to play.

Steikt

@spacebux. In v3 on the alert (group name posted news) you can't click on the groups name. That will take you to it's home page. You have to click on the alert. That will take you to their list of news. But not directly to the article.

DoctorStrange

If they really don't care about groups..then why did they make groups??

VirtualKnightJoakim

Chess.com do care about groups, it is just that all enhancements are on hold until switch to V3. But that could still take a long time so I hope they could consider change and improvement to news... not as an enhancement, but an urgent need/fix.

I really think they should just roll back to news based functionality, but if that is not an option, please help suggest here minimal changes to current alert based functionality which may increase news viewership from current 0.4% to something significant again...

Kirkwood

We're working on this! News will be fixed. Thanks again for bringing it to my attention, Joakim!

DoctorStrange

Will you make it to the oldest version AGAIN?

To Chess.com,  The point of your website to allow members to  share and have fun playing chess with other players isn't it?     This news alerts needs to be modified or rolled back as VKJ has suggested for improvements/changes.  This broken news functionallity has created a nightmare for groups/clubs admins! Vote chess games are being lost on time, and admins/Super Admins are  [I'm spending (90%) of my time on the site] messaging group/club members just to keep the vote chess games going and getting members to join matches!  I have been a member of chess.com since the first year it was created and until this news alert issue recently I have enjoyed chess playing and stepped up as an Super Admin/Admin in several groups.  Was your objective in changing News alert messages to discourage group admins, discourage team/club matches, and vote chess games?  This broken news alerts change will do just that.  I for one am very discouraged with the non functioning news alerts issue and will soon just step down from my SA and Admin positions, drop out of vote chess teams, and I am considering closing my account because chess is no longer fun here...

I prefer the old system, the current model information It is not read, data is lost.
