European flag as an option

the union jack is too much for me, sod europe!

I thought it already was an option.

Personally, I'd agree that since there are options for the Union Flag or the individual countries of England, Scotland, Wales, and N. Ireland, and there is also an "International" option, then Hell, why not include the EU flag.

As for "no politics here so no flags of political entities", any nation-state is a political entity.

The European Union is a collection of states... And we couldn't have a flag to represent a collection of states, could we now, Stars and Stripes?

I've previously considered making my own flag on here the EU one (not realising there wasn't such an option), and previously kept it as the Union Flag merely to be in line with the idea of international play.

Changed it recently from the Union Flag to the St. George's cross, not out of blinkered English patriotism but rather simply out of solidarity for "Team England" on here, for which group I plan to play most of my team match games this year.

The EU as a political construct has its good and bad points... But then, so does any political construct, I think, and the choice of one's flag on here simply represents where one considers "home", when it comes down to it.

Without passing any judgement on Brussels, Merkelreich, etc, I simply feel at home anywhere in Europe. I manage a company that operates throughout the EU + Norway, I speak a bunch of languages, and travel a lot. I was born and bred in England of English parentage; my passport says "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland", and I consider the whole of Europe to be "home turf".

Yet when it comes down to it, I'm with Anatoly Sergievsky on the topic of nationalism:

"Let man's petty nations tear themselves apart
My land's only borders lie around my heart"

I wasn't even aware the British players on here had the option to choose a flag from the UK's constituent countries.

All the more reason for the European flag to be given as an option here indeed! Otherwise, this is really a double-standard!

Personally, I don't care. But I'll say these 2 things:

1:Europe? No one is asking for a North America flag, or NATO, or United Nation. So why Europe? Just saying.

2: Irish and other parts of UK: I'm not asking for a Kansas flag.

1. Is there a North America flag? I would not have anything against a UN flag, I think this is perfectly fine. NATO's field of prerogatives is too limited (defense) to make its flag a viable proposition, IMNSHO.

2. I could respond by saying that to me, being asked to choose among European countries and not having the option of the European flag is like you being asked to choose among US states and not having the option of the US flag.

Can we have the Confederate Flag, please? Undecided

The confederation does not exist anymore:

I am very jealous of your being able to sport the Scottish flag, even though Scotland is not an independent state.

Although I am not actually Scottish, I am still proud to be Scottish (and this is where I live).

i'm not much of a confederate at all, but i recently visited the confederate museum in new orleans and saw some kick ass flags.  i'm easily entertained when flags are involved.

this is the "war flag" of the united nations.  it was used in korea.

flag of the republic of louisiana.  used for only a few months before louisiana joined the confederacy.  what a flag!

This was actually amazingly a flag of California, circa 1836 (and yes, it was more than a bit of a nod to Texas):

And this weirdass thing was apparently another early California flag:
