Sorry for the late response on this one.

You can change your background here - http://www.chess.com/home/themes

There are some pretty amazing ones, choose wisely :-)

If you want an easy way to configure the colors of a site, and are using Firefox, check out the ColorThatSite! extension

Okay, I get it. I was using Simple Board. It works in Full Board.
