Texas and California were both once soveregien nations that have been assimilated and should have their own flags too.
Yeah! I want a Lone Star flag.

How long was Texas an independent "nation"? For like 2 weeks?
I bet nobody in the world even recognized their "nationhood" either.
Ten years, after fighting their own war of independence. But I guess google was too hard for you to use.

Read some history. The Republic of Texas lasted from 1836 to 1845 and had diplomatic relations with several countries besides the United States.
It was California's republic that lasted only a short time.
Now, does Quebec have its own language: No.
Was Quebec ever independent for any significant amount of time: No.
The closest thing in the New World to peoples that have existed for hundreds or thousands of years, with their own culture, language, and racial identity is the Native Americans. Not Quebec.
I understand what you're saying and I agree in a way, but let's put it in an other way.
Do Canada have its own language? No.
Was Canada independant for a significant amount of time? No. (only since 1982)
Is Canada significally different from other countries? No, the U.K. and U.S.A are quite similar.
Yet, Canada is recognized as a country. Of course, there is international law recognizing sovereign countries and Québec is a conquered state in this optic, but what really hinders it from getting its flag on a chess website? I mean, I'm quite comfortable with the international flag but I don't think a Québec flag on chess.com would be too much of a diplomatic shock for anybody.
I also want to add that states such as Texas, Florida and California, who where conquered but started as "free" states should be allowed a flag too if there is a such a will.
On Chessworld.net, people can add Provincial / State flags alongside their national flag. Maybe we could do something like that here?
The Provincial flag of Ontario is:
I also want to add that states such as Texas, Florida and California, who where conquered but started as "free" states should be allowed a flag too if there is a such a will.
I'm not sure what you mean. All three of these states started as Spanish colonies. During military conflicts, the US took a large portion of Florida, and then eventually took the rest via diplomacy. Florida was never a free, independent country. Texas and California left Spanish control when the Mexicans revolted, and then these two states eventually revolted against Mexican rule. Texas sought annexation by the US due to military pressure by Mexico, and therefore was never conqured. The only one that was a free state that was conqured was California. When the US conqured California, the land was divided with Mexico. The US controlled parts of California would eventually be split into 6 different states. Part of this went to New Mexico, which has lands taken from Mexico, and bought from Texas and France. Clearly things get pretty messy if we try to allow these different flag options for the US states.
To make matters worse, all of these states left the Union during the American Civil War and joined the Confederacy. So there are two more national changes before becoming part of the US again.
OK but nobody is asking for a specific Texas As A Spanish Colony/Mexican Territory/Secessionary State flag.
The question is whether people care or not. I don't see anybody lined up to celebrate Texan subjugation under the Spanish Crown.
Well, I knew Florida and Texas. I was thinking there was a California regiment at the battle of Gettysburg. There was, but I got the side confused.

#47 Now, does Quebec have its own language: No.
In fact quebec is the only French province in Canada
#47Was Quebec ever independenent for any significant amount of time: no
Good answers is yes from 1534 to 1763
#48 Quebec is a province. It has never existed as a separate country before.
FALSE it was : Nouvelle-France or French North American Empire exist from 1534 to 1763
We want the quebec flag, the peoples here in quebec dont care about the rest of Canada and canada dont care about Quebec. They always said crap about us. I went to Toronto one day, someone throw me a rock because I was speaking french with my girlfriend. They was 7 against 2. BTW no one love canada and the idea of (piece of ***) John A. Macdonald, even in the west of Canada. They never wanted to be a parts of that BS. They just loose their independance.
We are two different peoples.
why, language / origin / habits /
They love guns - we dont
they dont care about pollution- we care
They love Harper - we dont
They are redneck - we are frog ....
Why I should represent the Canada. I dont want to. I'm a proud french Quebecois and I want to represent my country.
You dont know about the difference ( canada / quebec ) look at this

the best exemple is the national anthem
Quebec anthem https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IhXYzvE48w
rest of canada https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xvGKihWh6w
You can note that the rest of canada dont care about the french parts of the national anthem.
J'aimerais, pour ma part, que toutes les provinces et territoires du Canada puissent être représentés sur Chess.com.
I would, for my part, that all Canadian provinces and territories can be represented on Chess.com.
I would add that we have to use Martinique's flag right now to show we're Québécois first, with all the confusion it may cause. It's really not about hating Canada or anything like that but more about what we feel we are. Canada is a great country but I consider myself from Québec above anything else.
I luv that Caronag........Lola
....and Quebec City and Montreal are (2) very beautiful cities. Two of my favorites.
I am a French Canadian living in Quebec and the Canadian flag is all I need. Because that's what I am, and that's what my ancestors stood for: Canada. I see no need to try to avoid it or call my fellow English Canadian neighbors as ''They''. In fact, don't you guys know that the French settlers living near the St-Laurent river in New France were the first people to be called 'Canadians'? Quebec is a nation and I am proud of my French origin as well as my first language but I have no need for 'distinctiveness' or some special flag to show the world how nationalist I am. French and English people of this country belong together under the same Canadian flag. Ô Canada! Terre de nos aieux.
That some folks prefer to use the unofficial snake flag of Martinique and shy away from their own country flag suggest to me some serious identity issue or misplaced nationalism.
the flag is a political statement established against opposing power.
the flag as a cultural symbol is also valid.
the flag as a lost political or opposing value is also valid.
but...in the common weal...the flag is the establishment of power per se.
the flag of quebec is a flag of lost power. the flag of palestine is of two flags, hamas and the palestine of the west bank. these are the flags of oppossing armies.
the flag of russia, is temporary, for west russia and south russia and russia west of the urals is yet to be known.
canada..will not survive in her present state..for she has yet to sustain the tension of nationhood...
...asain emigration into the west, artic oil in the north, american values in the praries provinces, the distance of the eastern isles, cut off from all the others..the outlying maritimes...with quebec in between...
canada is doomed as a unit.
The point I was trying to make is that Wikipedia specifically refers to Wales as a COUNTRY.
United Kingdom is not the same as United States and that's the important fact you seem to overlook.
United KIndom = union of crowns, kingdoms and countries into one (equal) entity.
We are not some type of federation. Wales, Scotland and England are historical nations and existed as countries for centuries. The union does not diminish individual-identities.

Quebec is a province. It has never existed as a separate country before. (Do respect their desire to attain this if that is what the population wants)
