I did not use search function of opening explorer here enough to know its tricks, but here's my advice.
Perhaps if you use ECO code you could get something more.

OK, I browsed it a bit. I know this post is more about suggestion, then actual help in the particular case.
I agree that a search engine could be better here.
As for KID, I tried to enter ECO codes, starting from E60 to E99, and it works.
You get a list of subvariations, and then you could browse it further.
Hi
I'm not sure I understand how to use the site correctly, but bare with me. I wanted to learn a bit about the King's Indian Defense. I went to the page where I could enter searches. I selected the opening "King's Indian Defense" and I pressed search.
The result was a message that I had to narrow my search. Presumably I needed to enter the people who are famous for playing this opening in order to see games of this type.
If this were google I would have had an automatic list of top players of this opening to examine. As is I need to find or guess this information. I have no clue about this, so I am standing at the gates without a key. What I usually try is to put in random names of chess players I happen to know, hoping they might have used this opening.
2. If I spell the name of a player incorrectly I get nothing back. On modern search engines they can usually spit back a few suggestions if a name is misspelled. Couldn't we adopt this technology? Russian names are hard to spell.
I humbly submit my suggestions for your consideration.
Thanks.
