Are you talking about the ipad app? The ipad app is different than the new browser-based version. There is no way to switch versions in the app other than uninstalling and reinstalling with itunes.
I just wanted to say - I don't like the new format of the site at all. I find myself clicking on the old version almost every time I log in. I hope that option remains for a good long time, or I eventually get "used" to the new site, but I find it very disorienting to navigate the site otherwise. Maybe I just don't like change, even if it's for the better?
The only thing I do like about the new format is that the tactics trainer finally showed me the % breakdown of all the themes for the puzzles i've solved. It was quite enlightening actually to see that I just plain suck at solving queen sacrifice and exchange sacrifice themed tactics puzzles! 35% and 40% respectively. I didn't realize it was that bad until now... :)
Just my 2 cents.
On the off chance the staff reads your post, you have given them nothing that will help them improve the new format. In fact, you will probably just leave one or more of them despondent and disillusioned, wandering in the desert without hope for rescue.
Why don't you try again? Find at least one thing in particular that you don't like and post a screen shot of it. If you have a suggestion for a change that will improve the situation, let them know.
