Support Chess.com

Chess.com is a great website, and has numerous members keeping it active every single day. The average amount of games played per member is 124. And to be honest, most members dont pay for the free service. Few do, but if chess.com thinks this is the only way to raise revenue, they are dreaming!

There are many members that play dozens of games a day, keeping the flow of activity for the site alive. To stifle members that play so many games, yet can't afford it, or have no access to an exclusive "credit card".

So I propose a revolution, chess.com! A change that will bring forth new experiences for those of us that very much want a premium, or even the least of the premium accounts.

If chess.com wants to truely show support for loyal members that keep this site active, perhaps they could show support back by allowing premium accounts for members that play many games! Perhaps a free 3 day trial for every 1000 games played by members! Or something of the sort.

Freedom to the internet! Equality for loyal members!

If there is a flaw with my idea, or it's just not "a good idea", then please feel free to explain why my idea wont work :/

Or why my idea should be implenmented ;D

First and foremost chess.com is a business.  If they don't make money, the site goes away.  I don't see them rewarding users for playing games.  That could easily be abused.  However, in an effort to sign up more premium members, I could see that they might have a once-a-year free premium week or something of the sort.  Lots of companies do that.  But ultimately if you want premium benefits, then you must pay to get it.

i kinda disagree. chess is not exaclty the type of thing to get "into business"

and lets not forget there are other sites on the internet that offer all the benefits of chess.com and more. The game explorer is nice, but many other sites offer the same thing for free.

and lets not forget that the members are the bloodline of the site. Members go away=shut down of chess.com.

I was mearly talking about the educational purposes, not the money part. I would of thought chess was something not taken as seriously as say a stock market.

So yes, this is a 'biz" but to forget the whole point of chess not exaclty being a hardcore coolio thing, but instead an intellectual type of sport that should not have business in it. But whatever, I guess everyone can take something as pretigious as chess and turn it into a biz.

^^

Just pony up the 30 cents a day for a diamond membership and quit complaining.  You are not entitled to anything for free.

The members are not the bloodline of the site.  The PAYING members are the bloodline of the site.  When PAYING members go away, that = shut down of chess.com.

Again, this is a business.  They can't do all the videos and broadcasts and provide the other niceties without money.  If you want access to them all the time, then you need to pay.  Otherwise, just use the free portions of chess.com.

Its just that, I only find this site convient, nothing else. Other sites offer the same thing and more, but are free with the exception of providing an email address. I only use this site because of facebook.

Keyboard warriors, Unite! Use words and cliche's (pony up) to teach me a lesson!

and what about enthustic kids without credit cards? Sure they can afford 5c a day, but without cards, they cant get full benefits.

Geez maybe I should leave the complaining to other members lol

we do this. but on the individual level, not site-wide. but many people will get a free week at some point in the year :)

i am unable to come up with any productive comments for someone who expects me to do my job for free. silliness :)

I never said anything about the whole site being free!!! I only said for those who are very active and spreads the word if the website could be able to obtain prem...ur all making my simple post seem like I want the whole thing for free...

i mearly suggested allowing people who play 1000 games (perhaps with at least a 10%win rate to avoid abuse of the system) to obtain free prem. It would actually entice me more to buy the prem if I could get a sense of what it was first, but thats just me.

Idc, I literally never ever said diddly squat about having the whole site free, just those whom actually bring commerical traffic to the sight and give activity to the site.

Whatever, you guys prob see so many other members post about "allowing the site being free" that you ALL thought I was suggesting the same. I am quite aware this is a business.

I never said basically anything you all said I was claiming. I did not post the same thing countless others post, whining about the site offering everything for free.

But hey, let keyboard warriors type away.

never asked for a productive comment from someone who reads the first 4 negative comments and, without reading my post, automatically assumes my article was the same as countless others complaining about prices.

silliness :)

Before when I said chess.com is a business, you said "i kinda disagree. chess is not exaclty the type of thing to get "into business"".  Which is it?

I don't recall anybody accusing you of that.  I think everybody just said that YOU should pay if you want the premium membership.  I don't recall anybody saying that you wanted the whole site free to everybody.

If you want to bring commercial traffic to the site and get free premium membership, I'll bet there is a way for you to do that.  I can't speak for chess.com, because I don't work for them, but if you drove some traffic here, as you suggested, and had maybe 5 or 10 people sign up for premium membership via your referral, I'll bet they would listen.  But giving it away free because you play games?  Not gonna happen.

*Sigh*

Let me repeat myself...again...

I said chess is not something I expect people to make a business out of.

But yes, I am aware it is a business.

I also "thought" (An idea, something you are taking literal) that providing referrals/other ways to invite friends to the game would be a nice way to earn premium...and even though this was a positive comment towards me, you repeat my statement in a way to strengthen your non-exsistant argument -__-

And I only theorized that having an extra incentive for members to play more (1000g's=3dayprem) would increase traffic flow to the site, therefore bringing more members, therefore more profit/better website etc...which again, is only an "idea". Perhaps this website is doing well already with its current system, I do not know.

And your wrong, both Kingswraith (nice name, even though you posted negative comment ;D) and erik both mentioned that I wanted free promo's and free content of the entire site to the extent that erik's salary would be diminished. I did not realize 3 days worth of free prem(or even 24 hours worth) would cause this website to go bankrupt.

I also find this psycologically funny how all the current prem members post negative comments, while the one non-prem posted a non-negative comment...

Alas, you made no accurate points. If you reply back thats fine, but at least post an "awesomesauce" agruement to back up what you say ;D

Ummmmmm.  Ooooookay.

I think you made my points for me.  Anyway, good luck getting that free membership.

ummmmmmm. oooooookaaayyyy.

so by going ummmmmm ooookkkaayyy that proves your point?

.....

(my turn) ummmmmm oookkkay.

exactly u back down cuz u realized u were wrong in every way possible, in a near literal sense haha.

and once again, i shall repeat myself, i never asked for free premium haha.

I think you just proved MY point that you were wrong in every possible way.

thanx!!!

tbischel

the idea of having the members who are most likely to purchase a membership in the first place get all the free perks... and hope somehow that the occasional chess player (not 12 games a day) would be willing to fork out money to make up the difference...

the idea seems somewhat dubious.  I'd step on the live boards sometime and check out the number of players.  Chess.com is not at the point in the game where they are still just desparately trying to coax users to show up... they've outgrown that.
