Time Control Changes?

KEEP 5/2!!

I don't see the need to lose any existing time controls. But there should be a recognition on chess.com that there is MORE to online chess than blitz and bullet, and standard time control options should be included to reflect this. These would be:

30/30

45/45

and 90/30.

If chess.com continues to promote live chess solely in blitz, bullet, and rapid format, while ignoring the large community of members who wish to see slower time controls added (we are not looking to replac existing ones), I will begin to consider cancelling my diamond membership here and investing my chess dollars on a site that is not so biased in this way.

I don't know, but I was also looking for that time control. :)

PrivatePyle99

Please add a 30/30 and 45/45 and add timestamps.

Nine_fires

Yes 30/30 or you can just change it to 60/0! :)

JM3000

game duration (I asume 40 moves and a use of 80% of time)

30' + 30''  -> 1h 20'   (30'*2= 60'; 0.5'*2*40 = 40'; (60+40)*0.8 = 80')

45' + 45'' -> 2h          (45'*2= 90'; 0.75'*2*40 = 60'; (60+90)*0.8 = 120')

90' + 30'' -> 2h 46'    (90'*2= 180'; 0.5'*2*40 = 40'; (180+40)*0.8 = 176')

"Like 30/30 might be best compromise." +1

Threatening to quit does not seem to persuade the powers that be.

This is the age of the internet ofcourse they can make announcements like there is a tournament within the next number of hours in the longer time frame of say 45/45. People might actually bite this and will congregate more on Chess.com in longer number of hours.

I personally hate winning or losing on time, I am in favour of longer time controls

Bur_Oak

With 90 minutes, you shouldn't need an increment. I played 90 minute sudden death OTB in USCF rated tournaments, and it was just fine. If you need an increment to survive the endgame, you deserve to lose. Deal with it.

Correct

I would definitely like a 3|2 option.

Great!!!

HariSeldon

Thanks for 45/45. Btw, why not 90/30. At FIDE ratings, to be considered "standard" chess, the minimum time to 60 moves must be 120 minutes. That is the reason for 90/30 at Chess  Olympiad and FIDE tournaments.

90/30?? Why not? Thanks in advance.

hreedwork

I'll throw my hat in the ring for 90/30 as well. And thanks again for 45/45.

Loving the 3|2, definately my favorite blitz time control

Time4Tea

Thanks to the staff for adding 45|45 as a standard time control! It's great to see a bit more balancing between the standard and rapid formats :-)

SuperConstellation

Oh I see the 45|45 time control in live chess. Great, thank you very much!
