"The maximum amount of lag the system will compensate is two seconds."
so if you had 5 seconds lag, then you would lose 3 seconds off your clock per move until your lag dropped
its not cheating

Two suggestions:
1. Read help files before starting a topic and search forums for similar topics. Not only would you have found the answer to your question, but you would have also learned posting ettiquite/rules.
2. Play with increments, instead of 10/0, play 10/5. That way five seconds is added to your clock each move, so as long as you can be quick about it, you'll never lose on time.
I played a game [edited by a moderator] . Now, I don't like to drop names, but so that you can see the game in question, the game was played against [also edited by a moderator] . I captured his last rook, leaving him only pawns. He captured my Knight, leaving me superior position and superior material. He captured my Knight, then immediately ... immediately ... with 3.6 left on the clock, with me (white) having superior position, superior material and time left, Black won on time. This is not the first time this has happened to me. It seems there are those out there who know how to manipulate the clock to cheat a win. This seems to be, anyway. Feel free to view my profile and observe the game and tell me if I'm missing something. If my suspicions are true, is there a way to report cheaters, and if so, is anything done about it?
This site has a policy that allegations of cheating are NOT ALLOWED in public. if you think your opponent cheated you, click on 'help and support at the bottom of the page, then on 'contact us' and select the proper category, and file a report to staff about your suspicions. until they verify it, you cannot prove cheating by your opponent. (unless, of course, he claims to be using an engine and tells you, and in that case, grab it with a screen shot, and send in to management.)
and yes, they are removed once they 'hang themselves' by their own actions.
