Has "No Vacation" Reached A Tipping Point?

I don't - since I don't join NVTs. (In fact, I just created a No 'No Vacation' tourney smallish-crowd-rated-1500-or-so-no-particular-hurry).
But it sounds like NVTs increase your chances : last one to go on vacation wins.

They really do change the entire dynamic of the competition. It sounds bizarre to some, but if your #1 goal is to win a game, then analyzing all of the rules, both on the board and off, must be done.

People, get a clue about time controls!
Indeed. Here's a clue.
Once upon a time, (perhaps still) correspondence play could be done under cumulative time control. You had a certain amount of time for a certain number of moves. Take extra time now, you must move faster later. Move quickly now, make time for vacation later.
There is no cumulative time control for CC games at chess.com at this time. Time control renews for every move. This is a HUGE restriction, and can unfairly skew time control in games that cross time zones. I, and others in similar situations, would simply stop playing CC here if vacation was eliminated. But if vacation was replaced by cumulative time controls, I would be happy with that because it leaves time management entirely in my hands.

1. Chess.com should have the minor addition of a way to find "Vacation Acceptable" tournaments. There are 344 tournaments, so there's enough room for many types.
2. I have a day job. I travel on business, and often during that travel I'm putting in 10-12 hour days and having a business dinner at night. The chess.com phone application worked on my Blackberry Curve, but doesn't work on my new Blackberry Bold, for whatever reason. Sometimes, I need sleep more than I need chess moves. Resigning or timing out an ongoing game is unfair to my opponent, IMO.
3. This isn't the only site that allows vacation. ChessWorld also does (and, interestingly, allows you to make moves while on vacation, which chess.com does not. You would think that would be better, but it's actually pretty irritating.)
4. "There is no cumulative time control for CC games at chess.com at this time"
Another good idea. I won't join a 1 day time control tournament (with or without vacation time) but I'd join a 25 move in 30 days tournament.

Isn't it interesting how players who favor vacations never start forums in which they whine about non-vacation events?
