I have a chess tournament coming up, I was wondering, how do I like practice focusing or like study openings.

A tournament? A rated tournament?
Do you play over the board? Do you know how to keep score? Do you know how to use a clock? Over the board. These things take a little practice. Do you know rules like touch move, etc.?
Find out what the time control will be. Try playing some games at that pace and see if you can use the time.
