That happend to me once, it was a 5 round tournament and i was completly tied with another player so we ended up doing a coin toss and i lost it.
if your talking about fair then look at this example: i played i a 5 round tournament and I won all my games but i did't win the tournament.
I've read the Tournament FAQ on this website. I've read the wikipage for the S-B system. I still don't know how the tie-breaks will work on this website.
I am playing in a small tournament, with 8 players from some website, who know each other vaguely. We play a 3-round elimination tournament, 2 games per round.
The other 3 matches have finished their 2 games in the first week. My opponent is slow. We are half-way the first game only, after 1.5 weeks. The others have to wait for us. I am winning the first game (2 pieces up after 10 moves). I'll finish this one, but I don't want to play a 2nd game.
I am willing to take my chances. If I resign at move 1 in game 2, it will be 1-1. If dice are rolled, I'm fine with a 50% chance of advancing. But how does the tie-break work ? We're not playing others, so none of those fancy S-B rules apply. I have a semi-random rating, as I have played only 3 games on this website. My opponent is unrated (this is his first game here). The FAQ says that rating is taken into account. Also when someone is unrated ?
How does this work ? Roll dice ? Does the tournament director have any say ? Who advances ? Just curious. TIA. Gryz.
