Where to find official USCF/FIDE rules on pieces style?

Hi. I want to make my own chess set for use in tournaments. Where can I find the guidelines / rules I must use when building it? Thanks for your time.

Chapter 4 of the USCF rule book discusses equipment standards. (Sorry, the USCF rule book isn't available for free online; You'd have to buy a copy. Btw, I think I heard on the USCF forums that the new 6th edition is now out in some kind of digital format, but still not free. Hard copy of the 6th edition available later this year?)

For FIDE, somewhere in here:  http://www.fide.com/component/handbook/?id=16&view=category

Thanks, EscherehcsE (off topic- palindrome).Would somebody please be kind enough to paraphrase the important parts of what the rulebook says in section 40C (of the sitxth edition, otheriwse I am looking for the section on "form")? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

I don't have the 6th edition; I only have the 5th. Section 40C of the 5th basically states that the Staunton pattern is standard. Minor variations can be tolerated. The king and queen should have clearly different tops, and the bishop's top may have an angled groove.

Thanks so much, Escher.
