IM Renato Terry won a 3 0 Thursday tournament for the third week in a row, setting a new record with nine victories in the event. GM Oleksandr Bortnyk joined him, winning his third title, as did GM Benjamin Bok, winning for the first time. The women's prizes were won by WGM Savitha Shri B in the first event, NM Liudmyla Ivanytska in the second, and IM Le Thao Nguyen Pham in the final tournament.

1st Tournament: Bok Wins First Title

Bok joined the tournament after missing the first round and then nearly swept the competition. His only blemish was a draw from a winning position against IM Levy Rozman, better known as Gothamchess.

After that draw, Bok won his final five games, including a win over GM Arjun Erigaisi, in the same variation where Arjun had defeated him in a recent Titled Tuesday.

Heading into the final round, Bok trailed GM Shamsiddin Vokhidov by half a point, but an opening blunder doomed Vokhidov to second place with nine points, just ahead of GM Jan-Krzysztof Duda on tiebreaks.

The win helped Bok reach a new peak of 3172 on his Chess.com blitz rating. Even so, he wasn't done for the day.

2nd Tournament: Bortnyk Wins With Assist From Bok

In the second tournament, Bortnyk scored clear first with 9.5/11. Although he finished with just eight points, Bok made his presence felt with a final-round win against Arjun, which provided Bortnyk the decisive margin of victory. Arjun ended in third on tiebreaks behind Terry with 8.5 points.

In that final round, Bortnyk played an immensely complicated game against IM Tobias Koelle and demonstrated the benefits of having significant experience in your favorite openings.

Bortnyk also played well in quieter variations, using a Philidor Defense to score a key win against the second-place finisher.

3rd Tournament: Terry Takes 9th Title

Terry apparently wasn't satisfied with his second-place finish in the previous tournament and improved on it in the final event. His 9/11 score was good enough for clear first and a third straight Thursday with a tournament win.

Terry started the tournament with three wins, including this second-round attacking game against GM Dmitrij Kollars.

After a fourth-round loss to Arjun, Terry didn't lose the rest of the way, giving up draws to only Bortnyk and GM Fabiano Caruana. Terry clinched victory with a final-round win against Bok.

GM Parham Maghsoodloo took second place with 8.5 points, ahead of Caruana on tiebreaks.
