This is a "No Vacation" tournament!

why would you do this

This is unrated of course! If it was rated, this would be a mess!

I'm interested to see how this tournament goes. Previously, I made a tournament with the Scholar's Mate position but some people didn't take the free mate in 1. So how about this. Checkmate, or draw. Those are your choices, White. Choose wisely.

Hopefully now we can create a tournament where it's instant safety into the next round until you get bored of this and withdraw or time out. I'd love to see what happens!

Tournament End

wk_18 | Jun 6, 2022, 9:01 PM

The tournament finally ended, after 1094 rounds! This was an amazing journey, and it probably broke a few records on chess.com! Thank you so much to everyone who participated and made this possible.

500 rounds!

wk_18 | Nov 19, 2021, 2:18 PM

Sorry I'm a few days late, but I had to make an announcement for this amazing achievement! 6 players remain, can they hold off for another 500?

100 rounds!!!

wk_18 | Feb 7, 2021, 11:55 PM

Congrats guys, we've made it to 100 rounds! At this point, still 35 people remain! It's amazing to think that for 100 consecutive days (minus the ones where games were delayed because of people not checkmating on the first move) all of you have made one move on a chessboard. This might be the first chess.com daily tournament to complete 100 rounds, who knows. GGs, and good luck to those of you who still remain!

ANOTHER Mate in 1 tournament + Announcements

wk_18 | Jan 29, 2021, 1:17 PM

Only 10 rounds left to 100! I'm sure this is the most rounds any tournament has gotten to, right? If you know of any that have more tell me lol. Thanks for participating, and good luck in the future rounds to come!

On another note, the 4th tournament in the mate in 1 series is here! It should work really well because white only has one legal move, which is mate. It's a cool position, so please check it out. Thanks!

update

wk_18 | Nov 28, 2020, 5:34 PM

haven't announced in a while. but currently round 27, 79 players. nice! lets get to 100 rounds? everyone predicted so much less!

let's make things interesting

wk_18 | Oct 21, 2020, 8:08 PM

starting in round 4, the first person to play "Qg6" first move gets 10 trophies from me. idk why people like trophies but doing these "challenges" will make this interesting. i'll do more of these, so tell me if you want them in the tournament announcements or comments

New tournament

wk_18 | Oct 19, 2020, 12:43 PM

Hi! Here's another mate in 1 tournament but this time White can't waste time before checkmating. This will go much faster! Thanks if you join. https://www.chess.com/tournament/literally-a-mate-in-1-but-no-more-trolls

hmm good job @leandrin for being the only one to start off the tournament with a 2-0 even though this whole thing is kinda luck and sad job @acharya100 for being the only person in the whole tournament to finish with a score of 0
