What is the name of this opening?

Sort:
red-lady

I would be grateful. Thanks.

Redvii

1.Nf3 d5 2.c4 is the Reti Opening.

I always had trouble against 2...d4 when I played it - couldn't say anything about 3.b4.

macer75

A bad opening.

turamon

I don't know if you tried to use the Game Explorer ...

it tells me that 1. Nf3 d5  2. c4 d4 is called Reti-Opening Advanced Variation.

it's code in the encyclopedia of chess openings is A 09

this is what wikipedia can tell you http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R%C3%A9ti_Opening

I haven't found anything connected to 3. b4

turamon

to me it looks like white neglected the center ...

She created a new variation with 3. b4 or did it transpose into another opening?

turamon

doesn't look like ... but what have I to say ... maybe with g3 and then moving the bishop to g2??

turamon

so ...

it's name is Reti Opening Red's Variation

AndyClifton

I prefer the RedLady Reti.

It might have transposed into a gambit that begins with 1. b4 followed by 2. c4.

Turamon and Sunshine: I know where to find you two Wink It is a serious question.

Try www.365chess.com opening explorer.

Hey, who said we were kidding? RedLady Reti sounds like a great opening name!

trysts

I think it's a neat opening! I would try itSmile

red-lady

It works perfectly fine. So it can't possibly be an opening that does not have a name. Reti is without the b4 isn't it?

turamon

mh red I'm waiting for you to arrive and in the mean time I'll try to make my own waterzooi version so that we could eat something when you arrive =)

but like sunshiny said ... who said that we're kidding? RedtiLady would be an even better name

1.Nf3 d5 2.c4 is the Réti System. Don't know if 3.b4 has a name.

Be careful in this position: after 3...f6, 4.e3 is correct, and not 4.Bb2.

x-5058622868

Yes, so it probably transposed or a varation that wasn't listed with whichever site Turamon checked.

x-5058622868

RedtiLady is good too, but i'm not sure people would get it unless they know the Reti Opening.

Redvii

The Reti is 1.Nf3 d5 2.c4

The Reti:Advance Variation is 1.Nf3 d5 2.c4 d4

So I guess this is the 'Reti Opening: Advance Variation - 3.b4'

3.b4 is the 3rd most popular move behind 3.g3 and 3.e3.
