Maybe his/her mom was calling
why resign??????????
Did you make him play on the pink board? That could explain it. Why not replace the knights with cute my little ponies and the pawns with rainbows
I presume it's white to move - no reason to resign, Nathalie.
my position is white..why he was resign without reason..i hate this
Maybe you're just that intimidating...
The pink chess board probably drove him over the edge!
thats the reason - he would have had to play blindfold..
Could be anything. Dinner guests may have arrived early. The police might be calling him out with a megaphone. He might have promised his wife no more chess on the weekends and had to go when she came home unexpectedly.
There's a big comet coming by in March. Maybe he got hit by a meteor.
"He might have promised his wife no more chess on the weekends" maybe YES.. maybe NO
Quoted from verious people in the thread:
"A resign is a win--enjoy it!"
"You should be grateful for those freepoints."
"Just look at it as a free point!"
I don't know about you, but I play chess because I actually enjoy the game!

thanks master..i will try to enjoy this game
Cause is the right thing to do from another point of view? There is no reason no get upset!! Pick up a new game instead.
Since this isn't about chess openings, but is about chess nonsense, it should be moved to Off Topic.
What I'm guessing is that something happened in his life. Sometimes I have to resign from a game becuase I was just doing it last minute and have to go to a meeting or whatever. Almost anything could have happened to make him resign. I would just not think about it and let it fade in your mind.
U mean loosers? If so I deeply disagree Bob. Pls give specifics. All due respect. Quit and resign sound like the same to me.
Only assholes don't resign when they are 2 rooks down (like my very first opponent I played on here). Theres a difference between quitting and recognising the inevitable...
I fully agree on that Vease. However, chess players are meant to be polited, don´t U agree? so call a member with names sounds like unkind stuff. Move on...There are many teenagers or elderly people around, U Know. Furthermore they will not change. Live with that. They might be just trying your moves to learn something, while U finish them off. Think of yourself as a tutor in these games. What U think of that?
I have a few words more on the subject. Sarcastic comments might be funny but they DO NOT add the improvement for the weaker players. There are many codes of conduct for chess players. Google them...
when theres no hope "resign"
